“Spiritual Warriors” Screening at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, Texas

Article imageOn Wednesday, September 20, 2006 dozens of excited spiritual seekers arrived at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to witness the showing of the Spiritual Warriors movie in Austin, Texas. It was a special night as the Austin MSIA family joined with other Austinites who came by that night to be lifted by John-Roger’s teachings. Jsu Garcia hosted the showing and entertained us all in that marvelously funny and sincere way that he shares himself.
The evening began early as movie-goers arrived to order drinks and their dinner. Yes, that’s right…dinner. The Alamo Cinema is a rare experience that offers a fabulous menu, which was delivered to our seats while we watched the movie. It was amazing to watch food come and go without interruption by the staff to our viewing pleasure. Jsu made us laugh as he described his “letting go” process with us dividing our attention between watching his movie and eating pizza! But in the end he surrendered, and told us he was going to enjoy pizza himself!
After Jsu shared some background information on making the movie, the quiet settled in. We heard John-Roger’s voice and we were drawn into the first scene.
There were no distractions as the entire audience became spellbound by “Spiritual Warriors.” The focus within the theatre was amazing as the audience participated with the movie. We moved in unison into laughter, then crisp tension, then complete silence. It was as though those present were of one mind, with Spirit flowing its teachings off the screen to us. At the conclusion, a peaceful stillness held us as a group.
Then Jsu shared his heart with us, answering many questions and sharing stories about the making of “Spiritual Warriors” and its meaning to him personally. The audience shared their appreciation for Jsu and gratitude for making this profound movie.
Afterwards, many stayed on at the theatre to renew friendships and have that final drink before heading home. It had that wonderful “movie on a school night” feeling, leaving us at peace and contemplative of Spirit’s message. We drove home under a clear starry night sky, filled with gratitude for John-Roger and Jsu, and their commitment to sharing the teachings of Spirit with us in such a delightful way.
