First John Morton Seminar at Prana Organized by the Local Latino MSIA Community

For a long time it was in the heart of the group of volunteers of the Latin Community to bring the Traveler to one of our events, until finally we asked John Morton to give a seminar for us. It was going to be on a Saturday followed by a pot luck dinner.

I live in La Verne and to come to Prana I have to drive 38 miles. In the first part of this trip I drive through beautiful mountains that in this season bloom in different tones of green and some are completely covered in yellow flowers. To me this is inspiring and expansive and opens my heart to the love of God. As I drove I reflected on the coming seminar and thought “God does not exclude, God includes everybody and so this seminar will be open to all MSIA.”

And with that idea in mind I arrived at Prana to start planning the event. I met with several people, consulted with those with greater experience and after that the plans changed and we decided it would be easier and more familiar to us to do a closed seminar only for the Latin MSIA community.

We started promoting the seminar just for the group of Latinos active on Soul Awareness Discourses, a little bit in secret because if the word got out that John Morton was going to be at Prana our plans to have it easier and just “for us” were going to be ruined.. The group of volunteers started to make calls, many calls, hours of calling, whole days of calling people and repeating the same thing. You can imagine what is to try to organize a pot-luck for over 50 people! There was a lot of dedication, great devotion, but so far just to Latinos.

However, John Morton then asked us to open the seminar to anyone who wanted to attend. Here’s what John wrote to us by email:

“We are Spirit directed and led as a reminder regardless of race, creed, color, language, dialect or residence. Let’s make room for those who will gather for this event, openly, with welcome for all who come in the fellowship of the Soul.”

The Traveler OPENED what was CLOSED and shook what needed to be shaken.

Approximately 100 people met in that Spirit on Saturday April 5th — in the fellowship of the Soul. Sixteen countries were represented, including 12 countries from Latin America, plus Canada, Spain, South Africa, and the USA.

It was an evening full of realizations, and fulfilled expectations. Many people met John Morton for the first time, I saw their happiness and I also think I heard John saying “I am happy” as he prepared to leave after dinner.

The learnings are several: We need to think BIG, we need to trust, and most of all that “we are here to do God’s work in the way of God.” Thanks be to God.
