The Good News

For some people, the “good news” is that you don’t want to be here, and the “bad news” is that you’re here. And there’s a purpose in that, which is the good news. You might wonder what’s the good news about being here if the reality in Spirit is so much better and you’re heartbeat away, a moment from it, and you already know you want to go. What is it about being here on the earth, where you’re completing and fulfilling, which is good news?

Part of it comes in the consciousness of service, so if you can get on to that, then you’ll solve your dilemma about being here but not wanting to be here. It may take a while, but if you can just do it, then you’ve solved the dilemma because in the consciousness of service is the willingness to give your life into the world, to really present yourself in a way that is a gift, and to do that consistently.

Serving has its rewards because it creates an equilibrium so that you’re giving outwardly into the world, and that keeps you in balance inwardly. This also does a progression inwardly so that you are evolving and moving at a very high rate and acquiring higher consciousness by holding yourself open to what God would do in the flesh, as you. It’s the realization that the consciousness that is of God, that loves all His creation, comes into the flesh as you, and that is the consciousness that serves. It serves without reservation, with unconditional love, unconditional giving, all of which are quite magnificent.

When we take a look at those who are the saints, who have been seen as God-anointed beings, we see that they’re great servants. That would be one way to look at who is anointed, who qualifies as a saint. It’s the one who comes in to render their life and demonstrate service. Then some people equate it to this: “Well, they’re famous people, they’re recognized and honored. They’re saints.” But if you look at history, this is not always so.

And, of course, there’s also the part of history that isn’t recorded in any outer way that’s known. So it would be good to consider that there are those who have been anointed of God who expressed that in a way that perhaps was a complete secret. Only God knew. They were the silent servants. And sometimes that’s who the “village idiot” is: they’re rejected, ridiculed, and taunted, yet they’re the one anointed. What are they doing? They’re kind of waking people up and demonstrating that there’s another way. Some people get it, and others just get worked over in some way.

But what about people who don’t want to be here to the extent that they have thoughts of being in car accidents, getting hit by a bus, or something like that, so that being here is ended? These thoughts are to be managed. Rather than the person’s deciding that there must be something deranged or they’re screwed up, I’d say to forget about that. Instead, they can just look at it like, “Will somebody handle these crazy thoughts?” In other words, they can look at it like the thoughts come to them, and the thoughts are there to be managed.

If this fits you, you might even think of it as if the thoughts are with you in a way that the rest of us can go free. It’s almost like it’s “good” that you have those thoughts, so I can get in the car and I’m not thinking about having a collision or getting run over. You are managing those thoughts. Could you somehow slip? Sure, and that’s why it’s important to keep your consciousness up, like, “I’m not going to allow that to happen.” Sometimes you may feel like you shouldn’t drive. Well, maybe you shouldn’t.

One person managed thoughts like this by just saying, “No, thanks.” That’s another way to manage them, rather than having some rule that says, “I shouldn’t be having these thoughts. Sane people, good people, right people don’t have these thoughts.” But you’re good, you’re sane, you’re right. John-Roger has said on occasion, “You know, the crazies keep me from going insane.” And maybe there’s a way to work that out, so that you’re a little on the wild side. That’s fine, that’s entertaining. The village idiot is on the wild side, but that doesn’t mean there’s something bad or wrong going on. It’s just a different way.

And part of your service is to bless those thoughts, love them, not allow them to move into something harmful. It’s kind of simple. If you just pay attention and stay with yourself, stay connected to yourself, the thoughts that are not serving you become manageable.

Sometimes it may be like going into a grocery store with a very free-spirited three-year-old. One approach is to keep your hand on the child or keep them in the cart. Another approach is to let them go wherever they want to go in the store. But the store manager may come up to you and say, “Is this your child? Do you realize what they’ve been doing? Do you know the mess they’ve made?” It’s like that with your thoughts. You have a responsibility to watch over your thoughts and not allow them to do what they’re not here to do, in harmony with the highest good of all concerned. So you discipline your thoughts. You hold them correctly.

This is not a call to condemn yourself or condemn the thoughts. It’s not a call to respond in fear or self-doubt. It’s more like, “Okay, I can handle this.” And there’s another reference point that I have: if you had a choice and you could deal with this in one of those strange asylums that they had in France in 1788, where they put their crazy people, you could do it that way. Or you could be out and just manage a few crazy thoughts. You’d probably say, “This is much better than being in an asylum. Much better. So I’m happy to manage a few crazy thoughts so that they somehow don’t lead to trouble and I end up doing things that just put me back in the crazy house.”

The good news about who we are spiritually is that we can overcome. We can endure past any negative thought or action. The Soul cannot be corrupted or stopped by the world. As we learn to be conscious with the Soul, we also learn to be how God would be in our thoughts and in our actions. We learn to release the thoughts that do not serve the highest good. We learn to endure until we can see the peace that is present in all. We become the forgiveness. We find a supreme truth that loves all, regardless of any negative condition in our midst or present in the world. We keep rising up one more time in the world until one of those times we transcend into Soul once and for all.
