“This world is amazing in giving us ongoing opportunities to learn how to raise our consciousness and receive the benefits and blessings when we do that. It is really good, and it’s regardless of external circumstances.” – John Morton
This article is taken from a sharing session with John Morton in April 2026 with the PTS Master of Spiritual Science class “The Harmonic Self.”
In the laws of spirit, the first law has been referenced as acceptance. There is something there for us. It is an entry. If we are going to play at the spiritual level of who we are, then check the acceptance. What is that?
I recall when I first had that brought to my attention, through John-Roger, I hadn’t heard of something like this. My first response was, “Acceptance? That’s so like, blah.” Am I here? Of course I’m here.
I’ve often been humbled by acceptance. It is something that is of a mastership level. When we are mastering who we are spiritually, we’re mastering acceptance. I look for a tool or a focus for a direct way to be in acceptance.
One way that works magnificently, every time, all the time, is conscious breathing. I just did it by calling it out. My awareness comes where air comes into the lungs in the body. Something was releasing by consciously focusing on the breathing. I call that relaxing, coming into ease.
Accepting is that presence. It has ease in it. Regardless of whether we agree or hate each other – even if that consciousness is present and active – we could still be aware, “I am at ease with who you are.”
That is my choice. If I don’t do that, I’m caught. I am somehow bound to what you are doing that I do not like. Then, I start becoming what I don’t like, because I’m resisting it. There is another key word – resisting. If you are resisting, that is not the spirit.
What is resistance? It has a push or a pull. It’s magnetic. Who amongst us could say, “Oh, I’m always neutral. I don’t get charged up magnetically. I just observe it.”
To me, that is a challenge, to be aware of the neutrality. That’s another word for acceptance, to have awareness of the neutrality of it. That is observation, which brings up a great seminar from John-Roger, “Observation: The Key to Letting Go.” If you are having difficulty being in acceptance, cooperation, having a good time or being at peace, go listen or watch that seminar.
Observation is also altitude of consciousness. I can say and memorize all these teachings. I’ve got the awareness to speak and repeat them. But the opportunity is, “Are you doing observation?” Are you doing altitude in your consciousness, allowing yourself to experience neutrality? If you are in observation and neutrality, you are not caught in what somebody is doing that you do not like.
I know what it is to not like something extremely. I think we all know what that is. That’s okay, because that is also awareness. It is asking, “What is it that I am caught in?” There may be a really good reason to be caught in it. Like, “I don’t like pain. I don’t like suffering. How can I have less of that and steer clear of it?”
Pain is a messenger. That is how I relate to pain. What is pain telling me? There is a disturbance in the force. Pain can be the symptom.
The symptom may be that there is a fire. What is causing the fire? What do we do about the fire? Maybe, the only option is to extinguish it. Maybe an option is to prepare that it’s going to have its way and remove what doesn’t need to be in the fire.
This world is amazing in giving us ongoing opportunities to learn how to raise our consciousness and receive the benefits and blessings when we do that. It is really good, and it’s regardless of external circumstances. We can play in the paradise, because that’s how we relate to what is going on.
What is the paradisiacal view? I get out of or disassociate from this. That would be the paradise. If you get involved in something like disagreement or “I don’t like this,” that can be what is running in your consciousness. Then you are upset.
I don’t want upset to interfere with our being together. Being with each other is something beautiful and sacred, or even funny. I wouldn’t want my upset to not allow me to enjoy you. I would be missing out because you are right here. I would much rather be in this opportunity with you, than upset with something from the past.
If something lingers, it’s like a thorn in your arm. What would get the thorn out of your arm? Maybe it’s to take it out. Perhaps communication can be a way to address the disturbance. Then, we are meeting and relating in something.
One of God’s great creations is relationship. We are all in relationship, some more powerfully than others. In that relationship, we have a responsibility to be in the union of our consciousness. We can do that together and share the union through our co-communication. That is called communion. It is called “communion-cation”. It is the action of how we are together, through the miracles of language and communication.

A Blessing of Acceptance, Openness, and Anything Else
From Blessings Here and NowDear Lord, we’re gathered here in this presence
that is also gathered with us in the light,
and whatever is here in each one’s heart,
in any form of a need, a request.
Whatever it is that anybody is calling for,
whatever would serve healing, balancing, clearing,
learning and growing. And I hear J-R saying, “Anything else?”
And whatever anything else is, that it’s all answered,
it’s all brought forward into blessing.
So we can let go.
We can claim it, in the completion of it.
It is done spiritually.
And the most important quality is that we have acceptance.
We have openness and willingness to participate.
So we shift into that.
So there is perfect acceptance, perfect openness
and willingness to participate.
That whatever we don’t know how to do of own accord, our own ability,
whatever is unconscious, is a restriction or block, we give it up.
We invite the light, the love, this Holy Presence that is with us,
to bathe us, to surround us, to fill us up so we are overflowing.
That we can find our alignment, we can find our direction.
That from this point on,
we consciously know the way is prepared all the way.
It is done.
We give thanks.Baruch Bashan
