Awesome Barbecue for Beautiful Angels: Pre-Conference Celebration of the Highest Good [with Photos]

Celebration of the Conference of the Highest Good started early at Peace Awareness Labyrinth & Gardens (PAL&G.) On Wednesday, June 26th, a hundred plus angels in colorful costumes appeared. Our Beloved John Morton blessed the participants and Called in the Light around the reflecting pool.

Blessing complete; Sylvia Giussani, event organizer extraordinaire, directed traffic towards the sumptuous feast. As the music of Merrill Collins played, plates were piled high with smoked brisket lathered with barbecue sauce, chicken wings, corn on the cob, cole slaw and potato salad. Big grins and giggles broke out as old friends caught up and new ones were made.

Songs of praise for Chefs David Funk and Ned O’Neill grew louder as trays of ice cream scoops were sighted. DIY dessert time! The ice cream served as the foundation for an abundance of whipped cream, chocolate sauce, slivered almonds and sliced strawberries.

Later, divine docents, Katherine Hall and Kevin McMillan regaled visitors with tales of the Guasti mansion (aka PAL&G.) They also introduced the wonders of the Chartres Cathedral inspired labyrinth. Guests also saw the meditation gardens fresh from a recent facelift.

A real treat, too, for the visiting angels were the tours given by Carol Jones and Mark Lurie. Groups were escorted to the Alpine Tudor homes down the street (aka Prana West and Briggs.)

The official pre-conference celebration at PAL&G ended at 5 p.m. But the magic of love, light and laughter of the Conference of the Highest Good has just begun.
