The Wayshower wins the Golden Ace Feature Film Award at the Las Vegas Film Festival, July 2011

The Wayshower continues to receive recognition from the independent film festival community, with their most recent acknowledgment coming from the Las Vegas Film Festival as they were awarded the highest award of the festival — the Golden Ace Feature Film Award.

The Wayshower directors John-Roger, DSS and Jsu Garcia, DSS, together with producers Rick Ojeda and Laurie Lerner, and publicist / production coordinator Zoe Golightly attended the Las Vegas Film Festival July 15 – 17, 2011 to receive their Golden Ace Feature Film Award.

Jsu received the award on stage in front of a packed house of more than 400 folks in the Las Vegas Hilton Ballroom where Elvis performed hundreds of time. So how else would Jsu accept this award than to begin with an Elvis rendition singing into the mic and wooing the audience.

Jsu Garcia also took part in an inspiring panel on filmmaking as part of the festival. The panel discussion topic was “Filmmaking: What does it really take to get an independent film out of your head and onto the screen?” Given the long hours, continued focus and resulting success Jsu has experienced with Spiritual Warriors, his first feature also written and produced with John-Roger, Jsu shared about his experience both behind and in front of the camera.

As with all travels with the Traveler, we were clearly aware of some inspired and beautiful connections made with audience members and other filmmakers. Again it was a wonderful experience to connect with other passionate folks using the medium of film to share their message, their story and their love with the world.
