Relax (an excerpt from The Spiritual Principles of Health & Well-Being by John-Roger, DSS, with Paul Kaye, DSS)

This is an excerpt from the new book Living the Spiritual Principles of Health and Well-Being by John-Roger, DSS with Paul Kaye, DSS

To let go and let God is to relax and be patient. What if, right now, God is using you to bring His Light and power into this physical-level world? What if, right now, you are living in accordance with Godā€™s plan for you? What if your feeling a little sad and lonely is a tool for you to know yourself more deeply? What if the house burning down is a way God has designed to release you from a lot of worldly attachments and lift your attention to His presence? What if all things here are designed for your greatest growth and upliftment? If you can catch that vision, it will be easier for you to let go and let God.ā€Øā€Ø

You cannot get away from the essence of Spirit within you. If you try to deny that essence, the result is disturbance and imbalance. The butterflies in your stomach are you placing yourself against yourself. You donā€™t need to do that. You only need to relax, to let go, and to allow the ongoing process of Spirit to take care of you. Not a single moment goes by that does not bring you the opportunity to know the Soul more deeply and more fully. You are the vehicle for experiencing and knowing your Soul. So relax, hold back nothing, and let your Soul be. When you make space for the blessings of Soul to manifest, you become a living blessing.ā€Øā€Ø

Give yourself time to let your life unfold within Godā€™s timing and in Godā€™s way. Trust the Spirit. Let Spirit do for you what you may not have the wit to do for yourself. God takes perfect care of you, if you will only allow it. Life can be very exciting when you let go and let God, when you relax and are patient. If you push for your way, you can end up with difficulty. If you flow with Godā€™s will, youā€™re free.ā€Øā€Ø

The Spirit is everywhere. So when you relax a position and let it go, the Spirit, the Light, will fill that space. And when you are attuned to Spirit and are experiencing the love of Spirit, the negativity of others does not matter, and your own negativity does not matter. There is love and forgiveness for everything and everyone.ā€Øā€Ø

Our bodies build their form around the energy we place out. If we misuse our energy by putting our attention in the wrong place, the body will build its form around it. For example, if you worry a lot, it will be reflected in your tense shoulders and your tight stomach. When we start to use our energy correctly, our shoulders loosen, the stomach relaxes, the energy starts moving into the areas that have been blocked or closed off, and the body starts aligning itself spontaneously. Correct use of energy makes everything liquid, relaxed, and smooth. The body will line itself up and re-form itself according to your conscious thought and pattern of behavior.ā€Øā€Ø

The lesson for us here is that if we donā€™t change our behavior, the body will go back to its previous condition. If we are willing to listen and watch, weā€™ll find that the body is not only educating us in how to get well but also showing us how to change the condition that produced the imbalance or illness.ā€Øā€Ø
When we are tense, we hold on to what isnā€™t there. We tend to fight and resist as a way of showing strength. Living this way is more a sign of weakness. Relaxing and letting go demonstrate true strength.ā€Øā€Ø

When you are relaxed, you are more sensitive and aware. You know not to react when someone says something potentially upsetting or negative. You have the presence to say inside you one very effective word, ā€œdeflect.ā€ This single word can work wonders against a verbal or psychic attack. There is no need to give up your center for someone elseā€™s upset or let negativity build in or around you. It can be handled in a relaxed way.ā€Øā€Ø

If someone pushes against you physically, emotionally, or mentally, yield and let go. Donā€™t be there. Be on the other side of them. Be like a revolving doorā€”one door gives as you push, the other follows behind. In this way, you preserve the quality of relaxation. If you find yourself starting to be stubborn or resistant, itā€™s better to give up your position than lose the quality of relaxation and centeredness in order to preserve that position.ā€Øā€Ø

The basic principle of letting go, of relaxation, will produce a softness and kindness in your demeanor. Others will often mistake that kindness for weakness. So be light-hearted, good humored, and let there be vitality in your relaxation. Resistance, like tension, is just opposing something that, in reality, is not there. You may feel justified in your opposition, but it is really a strike against yourself. When you get right down to the core of it, we are only upset with ourselves.ā€Øā€Ø

The best course is to stay in your loving. There is absolutely no need to play the game that you are no good or that you are not worthy. Itā€™s a foolā€™s game. Claim that you are divine and allow yourself to soar in that awareness. Do not fear who you are. Relax into your very cells and know you have everything you need in this moment.ā€Øā€Ø

When you feel tension, let go of your resistance. When you feel life is too hard, stop pushing. When you stop the push, you may feel less tired. Are you pushing to get hold of something that is not yours and never will be?ā€Øā€Ø

If you can stop for a moment in your thinking and your questing and listen to the silence, you may start becoming aware of many levels of consciousness, that you are a multi-dimensional being existing on all levels simultaneously. The trick is to learn to shift your awareness to where you wish to be.ā€Øā€Ø

It isnā€™t lifeā€™s events that cause stress, but it is our reaction to those events that activates the symptoms of stress. For the most part, stress is internally generated by our negative attitude towards ourselves and what is going on in life. The choice of our attitude, choosing between being tense or relaxed in a situation, can be made at any moment. You may thrive on the thrill of stress, but it is likely that there is an addiction to the surge of adrenaline. With practice youā€™ll find that being completely present with whatever is going on is far more thrilling.ā€Øā€Ø

We lose nothing by slowing down. That moment of quietā€”or nothingnessā€”of silence, is when we find out that, inwardly, we are wealthy beyond measure. Weā€™re no longer hung up, but weā€™re free and flowing, and we joyously realize that, despite momentary appearances to the contrary, things have been moving our way all along.
