Sharing the Momentum of Love: “Momentum” Book Launch Celebration with John-Roger & Dr. Paul Kaye

Article imageA momentum of loving & blessings showered upon more than two hundred people who gathered at the Barnes & Noble bookstore at the Grove in Los Angeles to celebrate the release of Momentum: Letting Love Lead on Sunday, November 24. Authors John-Roger and Paul Kaye demonstrated the joys of letting love lead as they took turns speaking about the book, and spent the afternoon signing books.

Barnes & Noble bookstore coordinator Jan Lindstrom, kicked off the book launch promptly at 3:00 p.m., welcoming J-R and Paul as honored guests. Both authors helped to warm-up the audience, with J-R noting that we are entering the Christmas season and that it is a time of worship; of loving & being faithful to the divine choice we make. J-R shared about the book-writing process, working with Paul and others over the years to edit material. J-R also gave thanks for John Morton’s presence at the event, and noted that John’s book, The Blessings Already Are, is a wonderful book to help raise children with the knowing that the blessings are always present.

Paul shared his appreciation for the loving that J-R exudes, and how that experience of loving led him from England to the United States to come study and work with J-R. Turning to one of the key themes in Momentum, “the wisdom in imbalance,” Paul noted that when people approach him now and say, “I’ve got a problem,” his response is, “Oh, good. How are you going to let love lead? How can you let love set your direction?”

With all of that in mind, J-R opened the floor to questions from the audience, addressing topics such as, “What is the false self?”, “How can we recognize love?” and “How can we maintain positive creation, and keep our joy & enthusiasm going versus becoming bored?” In his responses, J-R shared valuable keys with us.

After the Q&A session, J-R and Paul settled themselves at a table and proceeded to sign book after book and spend time with each person who came to be with them. In one sure sign of a successful book event, the store sold out of the Momentum books before the cookies were gone! With the store located close to MSIA headquarters, we were able to bring more books to replenish the store’s supply, so that no one who came for a book would leave without one signed by the authors. Fishes and loaves!

The store hummed for hours, with people standing in line, nibbling delicious treats (ranging from homemade cookies to death-by-chocolate brownies, coffee, and licorice twists), sitting in big easy chairs, and sharing in the momentum of loving together. Happy conversations bubbled throughout the store, and if there was one essential message to the day, perhaps it can be best summarized by the leading quote in Momentum from John-Roger:

“There is the Game of Life and the Game of Love.
Most people are playing the Game of Life, trying to make life work.
Life already works.
How we bring loving into it is the big key.
That’s playing the Game of Love, and it’s by far the bigger game.”

The bigger Game of Love was very much in evidence for the book launch, with people’s smiling faces, light hearts, and abundant good cheer. Momentum: Letting Love Lead is available now at your local bookstore — and you can also log onto Amazon.com to place an order today.

Also, mark your calendars for the international book launch celebration for Momentum, scheduled for January 28, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. PST. Come and attend the event live at 2101 Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica, CA, or via the Internet at www.msia.org/live. John-Roger plans to participate, health and schedule permitting.
