One of the assistants and I arrived at Peace Awareness Labyrinth & Gardens (also known as Prana, the home of the Traveler)early on Saturday, May 12th, coffee in hand, prepared to make the “Earth, Wind and Fire” Spiritual Spa Day a happy event. When assisting team leader Kevin McMillan called in the Light, all hearts were called as one to the service of the day. Job descriptions were handed around, and the joyful work began. Cooperation was key.

Kevin made introductions and explained the logistics of the day. Rev. Glenn Barnett, a long-time MSIA minister, writer, historian, and college professor was our facilitator for the day’s event, aptly named “Earth, Wind and Fire: A Day of Meditation.” He began with a prayer of invocation, then began to lead us through recorded meditations by John-Roger (Founder and Spiritual Advisor to the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness MSIA) and John Morton (Spiritual Director of MSIA).

We started with the Breathing Meditation, and Glenn pointed out that the translation from the Greek ‘pneuma’ and the Sanskrit ‘prana’ means ‘Holy Wind’ or ‘Holy Spirit’. Glenn added that in these meditations, we were working with the subtle energetics, and that our experiences might not be immediately apparent, or might be highly individualized.

We moved on to the Water Meditation, and several people reported that they noticed changes in the taste of the water after focusing upon it for several minutes. In addition to preparing us for the various exercises, Glenn also injected his very apparent brand of humor, while adding historical detail to what was already a rich morning.

Speaking of rich, we were soon called to Prana’s Dining Room, where the excellent kitchen crew (Elaine Kitchell, John Forrister, Kelley Forrister, Arissa Bright and Tamera Fields) had created an outstanding brunch: Two elegant salads, roasted vegetables, an egg-and-goat-cheese souffl
