DAY 12 – NEW YORK

Early rise and shine for a few of us this morning. John and Leigh head off to the webcast hosts breakfast sponsored by Deborah Kovitz. I hear the menu is yummy and the webcast hosts are looking forward to a special Q&A with John this morning. I start Services early too. Roger gets up to prepare to do set up for tonight’s Ministers/Initiates Q&A at the Abigail Adams Annex. In awhile Vincent, Lesley and Cleora will be joining me as they start their rounds of Services too.

Lunch comes very fast and before we know it the day of Services is complete and we’re heading off the Annex to do the final prep. Larry Brock, Manny Stissi joined by James Chew assist in room/sound set up. Andrew Millar, the TC, has a special crew of assistants that help create a warm ambience. Ann Webre is coordinating all the many hands, and Joan Beisel is overseeing the registration tables. The room fills up quickly after the doors open and once John Morton appears we know we’re just a few minutes away from beginning.

Mitchell Brozinsky welcomes all the MSIA Ministers and Initiates in his engaging “Puck-like” way which is relaxed and focused. Brandon Ross touches our hearts with his guitar playing and singing. Our hearts are open and ready for the Traveler, and the Traveler, John, delivers mightily! We end the Q&A session with a Moment of Peace, “Christ, My Man for Eternity”. If you haven’t seen this you can find it on YouTube…it’s a must view!! That velvety Spirit feeling flows all around us as we do our best to stay focused on packing up cable and equipment at the end of the Q&A. Our visit to New York has been short but very sweet and very powerful! Rain starts to fall as we pack the last bag into the van to return to our hotel. It’s late, a long and very satisfying and uplifting day with blessings all around. A little chance to dream with the Traveler and then a bit more to go tomorrow before bidding adieu to New York.

DAY 13 – From New York to Philadelphia

We finish the last of the Services this morning. Our heartfelt thanks to Rhoda and her wonderful host/ess assistants – Wade, Ken, Sandra, Karen, Deborah, Ann and anyone else whose name has slipped by me. Vincent and Roger get the luggage and the vans lined up for departure right as we finish Services and soon we’re on our way to Philadelphia (Philly). We make one little health food stop relishing the cleansing properties of our fresh juices that we’re now sipping as we move towards the Lincoln Tunnel. I work on emails from the back seat as Roger and Cleora navigate and caravan behind Vincent and Lesley. I’m so grateful that I’m getting to catch up on some emails that have gone awaiting during these busy days. Soon we’re pulling up to our Philadelphia hotel. Again I marvel at the architecture in this city…fascinating remnants of American Revolutionary days mixed in with contemporary buildings. I marvel at how my imagination sees Benjamin Franklin walking everywhere I go in this city. Tonight is a quiet night. Cleora opts in for a little rejuvenation. Roger, Lesley, Vincent and I go for another French crepe adventure full of fellowshipping and childhood memories, and then it’s Bon Soir and hugs as we each go back to our rooms for more quiet.

DAY 14 — PHILADELPHIA

Some of us are up early this morning to work out or walk before breakfast and then Lesley, Vincent, Cleora and I drive to Services at Faith Rudisill’s home in Wynnewood, a beautiful suburb of Philadelphia. We have a heavenly day here that includes a scrumptious home cooked meal by Betsy Washburne who is the co-MSIA rep here in Philadelphia along with Marilyn Bullock. Betsy coordinates all the Services logistics and makes sure we are well taken care of today. Meanwhile Roger is at McShain theatre at Rosemont college along with Marilyn Bullock and her great crew of assistants to set up for this evening’s Open MSIA Seminar with John Morton.

We finish our Services and stop by a local health food store and then dunkin donuts (love those donuts) to get some food and coffee treats for Roger (and for us too!). As we drive to the college we’re so taken by the beauty of the flowers and delicate shadings of green that are background for some extraordinarily lovely homes. The college grounds are no exception. Inside all is ready and we see people have come from quite a distance — like Maine — to be with the Traveler for one more evening. Such fun visiting with friends!

John and Leigh arrive and we’re ready to go. Marilyn and Betsy are the MC’s this evening and they do a light-hearted introduction bringing in the joy from the very beginning. Mark Seidman takes us on a creative journey with his flute, Ruth Galli delights us with her stand-up routine of “What Are You Holding Onto?” and the Andrew Cohn serenades us with his Sunshine On the Land song. Like little flower girls John is preceded on stage by little Daria and Sofia who were besides themselves with joy to be with John. They share their joy and innocence with all of us, and then step down. John builds on that joy throughout the evening threading many themes together in a tapestry, the essence of which comes back to Love. When Baruch Bashan is spoken we are indeed recognizing how blessed and full of blessings we are right here and right now. One big blessing for us staff is to not have to pack up tonight. Yippee!! And it’s back to the hotel we drive. It’s before midnight as we lay down our heads very grateful indeed for the blessings that keep on being showered upon us.

DAY 15 — PHILADELPHIA

Again we have Services at Faith’s…another heavenly day. Just when we think lunch can’t get any better, Betsy tops herself and does the tastiest turkey and fixings. Cleora and I walk around the block after lunch in the idyllic temperature, feasting on the color, smells and breezes that surround us. After Services Vincent, Lesley and Cleora head back to the hotel. I have the special treat of being picked up by my son for a visit that I’m so happy to have. Life is good all the way around.

DAY 16 — PHILADELPHIA

Every once in awhile staff has a free or almost free day. Today is one of those days. We have a leisure wake up and enjoy some relaxing time. Roger heads over to Rosemont to prepare the recording system as John will be taking sharing with the DSS class there later this afternoon. The day flies by and some of us go over to listen to the sharing as John makes himself available for questions and answers. Afterwards we take advantage of the nice weather and free evening to grab a bite to eat, a walk and a bit of TV, along with our ever-present emails. What fun to enjoy a little time actually seeing a bit of Philadelphia! These kind of moments are precious and all the more memorable. Well, time to sleep for tomorrow it’s off to do Services in a new area of New Jersey…more exploring and Light columns to place.

DAY 17 – PHILADELPHIA AND NEW JERSEY

Roger and Vincent are up eearrrly this morning to tweak the sound set up for the Philadelphia Ministers meeting. John is attending and the ministers are all abuzz for him to join them. In the meantime Cleora and I depart for doing Services at the New Jersey eastern shore. We haven’t traveled there before and we get a kick out of doing some sight-seeing along the two hour drive. The Philadelphia Ministers are delighted to have John and Leigh be with them and there’s an ordination too that adds to the celebration. Following the Ministers meeting, Vincent returns to our hotel to join Lesley in doing a day of Services. Cleora and I have now reached our destination -the home of Karen Faherty and Rich Rosen in a beautiful area called Little Silver that has a little river/estuary flowing nearby. At lunch Cleora and I walk over a little bridge and watch little groups of ducks floating by lovely sail boats moored at the piers of huge stately homes. Quite lovely! Our day zooms by as does the drive back to downtown Philly. We check in with Lesley and Vincent who have also had a quick full day. We are all happy to have a quiet night of room service, do a few emails and cozy down for an in the room movie. A little bit of rest-fullness before our schedule picks up tomorrow.

DAY 18 — PHILADELPHIA

Today Lesley, Vincent, Cleora and I go to Faith’s for a half day of Services. The temperature is just a touch cool and still the verdure and color of the foliage and flowers takes our breath away. Gorgeous, just gorgeous! Roger drives off to the Knight-Meyer’s home to start set up for the fundraiser Q&A happening this evening. After Services we thank Faith for once again making her beautiful home available to us and the community for the Services. Then we drive to the Knight-Meyers home and join up with Roger who has things well in hand. Elizabeth Frumin is overseeing all the different hands as the coordinator par excellence for this event. The chefs — Lou and Linnie Tenaglia, Tony, Sharon, & Sally have a feast in readiness. Lesley, Vincent and I take a few moments to get in some emails while Cleora holds the Light (looking a lot like a snooze). Tom Meyers seems to be everywhere greeting and helping out.

Finally participants start arriving, John and Leigh come and we are underway. The dinner is scrumptious with turkey and fixings. I save room for the dessert which is a spread in itself….loads of wheat-free cookies, fruit, whipped cream and unbelievably good truffles!!! The Knight-Meyer’s home is beautiful inside and out and the perfect cocoon for the Traveler’s work this evening. Soon we are gathered together and are welcomed by the Munts family: Andrew, Laura, Maggie and Matthew. Then John is introduced and our ship sets sail. We are in great hands as the wind of Spirit blows and takes us flying with answers that go way beyond any of our questions. At the evening’s end we pack up and head home to grab some sleep. Tomorrow is a long day for Cleora and me as we once again will go to New Jersey and then drive to DC to meet up with the rest of the gang who will go ahead of us. Thanks to all who have prepared the place for the Traveler to be and share in Philadelphia. Our visit here has been smooth and lovely all the way around!
