What a blast to be part of the . Spiritual Warriors cast and crew in attendance at the Brilliant Light International Film Festival last Friday night. It was held at the Raleigh Studios in the Charlie Chaplin Theater. I believe Chaplin and a lot of the greats films were made there back in the day. Spiritual Warriors was invited by Jennifer Corinna, USM Graduate and now our good friend, to be the film shown at the Premiere of the whole festival.
The seats were the most comfortable I’ve ever been in at a theater and I had so much fun meeting new people and introducing them to our beloved Dr. John-Roger. J-R, as we affectionately call him, was sitting for quite a while out in the foyer before the film began and giving a lot of us lucky Souls darshan and satsang … and lots of profound loving. Like J-R has said, no matter how many times you have seen the film, each time you see it has a new spiritual blessing for you. That was definitely my experience that night.
Before the show Jsu Garcia introduced David Raynr as the Director and they spoke eloquently about their experience making it and promised to speak more at the Q&A after the screening. After the film I joined them also for the Q&A … it’s always so amazingly exciting for me to speak about my honor in being part of Spiritual Warriors, particularly in front of the love of my life John-Roger. I got so high and then the high of introducing some of the fellow filmmakers in attendance to John-Roger and to feel their joy at both the experience of the film, and of course meeting J-R.
Jsu and David were funny and enlightening as they talked about their processes with the film; the sandpapering, the lessons, and the joy. I piped in about the phone calls I would get as an acting teacher from David about how to get Jsu off the phone with J-R long enough to cry on cue for the character in the film. His love for J-R is so phenomenally demonstrated through the Light action of the film, as is David’s and all the MSIA family involved. I’m so proud to be part of this magical adventure, and to have felt the Light at the Brilliant Light Film Festival.
Much love and Light,
Sally Kirkland
