Springtime with the Traveler — MSIA Travel Staff’s Trip to the Northeast, 2008

Article image MSIA travel staff are currently on the East Coast, providing MSIA Services (Innerphasings, Polarity Balances & Aura Balances) as well as MSIA events. Staff member, Angel Gibson, provides this update from the trip:

DAY 1 – WASHINGTON, D.C.

It is lovely here in Washington, D.C. Politics may be front and center but the flowers and Spring green bring us present with God’s true splendor. Pink and white delicate dogwood tree blossoms punctuate seas of multi-shades of soft new green. Tulips still abound and all colors of azaleas. I start MSIA Services today at Myrtle Sutphin’s and Tim Fiocchi’s home while Cleora Daily makes her way across country to join me later this afternoon in Silver Spring, Maryland, a suburb of Washington.

Myrtle and Tim and Alex Beau — today’s host — go all out to make sure those receiving services are well taken care of. Lunch is a feast…a buffet of delights with fresh carrot and celery juiced to taste. OK, I’m spoiled and it’s only Day 1.

My day whips by greeting wonderful friends from my old home town here, and soon I’m back at my hotel greeting Cleora. We catch up as we do a favorite walk to Whole Foods, and then to dinner. Finally back at our hotel, I launch into email and Cleora takes to her book.

DAY 2 – WASHINGTON, D.C. and BOSTON

Vincent Dupont, Lesley Freeman and Roger Wakefield start off early today flying to Boston with all the equipment. They will be joined there on Thursday by John Morton and Leigh Taylor-Young. They arrive and are greeted by Linda Gennari who helps them out by taking some of the equipment into her car. Roger bids goodbye as he’s met by his parents who are delighted to have him for a day. Lesley and Vincent head with Linda to their hotel to get settled in and prepare for Services to start the next day.

Cleora and I rise bright and early. After a short walk for a little wake-up, coffee and breakfast we’re picked up by Tim and start another day of Services. So many friends to greet, and Elisabeth Frumin and Bruce Rosenfeld are also now with us to continue their balancer-in-training education. Today Tim is making his famous Turkey Chili for our lunch. Like a little kid I’m so happy when lunchtime arrives. I only wish my stomach was large enough to eat as much as I wanted. It’s a little rainy today and cool but the flowers don’t seem to care as they’re still looking gorgeous. Our day finishes and Cleora goes back for a little rest time and I’m having a quick dinner with my son and grandkids. Then it’s back for emails and the latest news from home base, particularly about our progress in setting up promotions for John Morton’s new book, “> You Are the Blessings book, how Prana West was coming along, all the Spiritual Warriors screenings, and field some administrative “Do you know….?” questions. We found that there’s a seed being planted in the DC community to bring the Spiritual Warriors movie to D.C. Yeay! I’d love that! Shortly afterward we called ourselves into the Light and sent it ahead of us and to the Travelers too. Then home again for our nightly check of email.

DAY 4 – BOSTON and D.C.

Roger, with some able-bodied support of Ross Goodell, set up the audio/video for tonight’s Open MSIA Seminar in Boston. Reports came back tonight that the seminar packed a wallop! Leigh Taylor-Young was a surprise guest, leading an invocation of Light and Peace as part of the program. Valerie Walsh touched hearts with her singing. Leslie Fabian, who has recently stepped boldly into the Boston MSIA Rep shoes, was Mistress of Ceremonies. And John anchored radiantly the Traveler for all to see and hear.

Meanwhile on the D.C. front, Cleora and I had a quieter day with Services again at Tim and Myrtle’s. We love the quiet, mind you, particularly at lunch sitting under the dogwood in the sunshine feeling the balmy breeze of an 80 degree day as we catch a waft of Lily of the Valley. In this peace, we caught up with some friends who have moved to Gettysburg — Chip Conley and Jan Rovecamp. They still come back to D.C. to visit with their friends (making us a scrumptious lunch)…they tell us that we’ll be seeing them up North for some of the events. Alice Hill has also come in to visit from Ohio…so it’s a mini-reunion today. Once Services are done I go to visit with my kids, Cleora is happy to have a little quiet time on her own. Then it’s packing time for both of us, because tomorrow after Services we will drive to New Jersey. But first, just a few more emails….

DAY 5 – BOSTON, D.C. AND ONTO PHILADELPHIA and NEW JERSEY

Well, there’s lots of activity today. In the morning in Boston John signs more “> You Are the Blessings books sold and signed was 50. YEAY!!! We love it. Thank you, Boston.

Cleora and I finish up the Services in DC and crown the day with an ordination — what a lovely way to end our visit, only to be capped by more of the turkey chili that Tim has been keeping fresh for us. Yum! Then it’s off to get our rental car and drive up leisurely to Morristown, New Jersey. Thank you all in D.C. for taking such good care of us…we have bags of goodies they have given us to munch on for at least the next month. We arrive in Morristown — old revolutionary war town — as the sun sets. We can’t resist walking around this quaint town, viewing some of the homes built and still standing since the 1700’s. It is downright damp and chilly so our walk is brisk and by the time we get back to the hotel, both of us are ready for showers and a short night. Ok, I can’t resist writing up a few more days of our on-the-road journal, and seeing what changes may be a foot from emails. Tomorrow Cleora and I will meet up with our New Jersey family. ‘Til then, Light to all.

DAY 6 – BOSTON, NEW JERSEY and PHILADELPHIA

It’s Sunday and Cleora and I are in Morristown, New Jersey. In case you didn’t know — we sure didn’t ’til we Googled — Morristown hosted George Washington and his armies, particularly during the coldest winter of 1779-80. Right in the center of town are three metal real-life looking statues of George Washington talking with Marquis Lafayette and Alexander Hamilton. Just standing next to these statues brings a chill and a thrill to both Cleora and me, giving us an idea of what it must have been like to be around these men at one of the most transformative times of our country. Ah, no time to dawdle there though as Services beckon and we’re off for a drive to Nutley, a little town down the road where in dwells Dr. Allan Verter. Allan has opened his office this Sunday for the New Jersey MSIAers to have their Services. Elsa Hill, the New Jersey MSIA Rep, warmly greets us and gets us settled into our Services room. It is a very interesting day doing Services on special chiropractic tables. Lunch is tasty with some unique combinations of food whipped together by Allan and Nancy, Elsa’s daughter. The sun has come out and it’s another gorgeous day which we celebrate by taking a short walk during lunch. After Services we head back to our hotel making it just in time to catch a movie. Our pick tonight is Iron Man — we loved it! Our warm thanks to Elsa and Allan for caring so much for their New Jersey community and for taking care of us.

Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, John takes sharing at the DSS Philadelphia class, who have got to be excited to have the Traveler in their midst. Leigh Taylor-Young is a special guardian along the way. In Boston Vincent and Lesley have a final day of Services wrapping up a very full and wonderful Traveler/staff visit there.

DAY 7 – ON TO NEW YORK

Today we are all converging on New York. Cleora and I decide to get in a little more history before making our way north. We go to Washington’s headquarters, at former Jacob’s tavern. The “humble” house looks like a beautiful mansion to us. We watch a 20 minute movie on what army life that 1779-80 winter was like. Immediately we are full of gratitude for all we have, seeing this army go through desperate hunger and bitter cold to win liberty for this country. We travel a little south to Jockey Hollow to see Wick Farm and where the troops were encamped during this winter. General Washington was very precise in how he wanted huts built for his troops, and there is an archeological site where some of the huts have been reconstructed to show the precision and how the huts were made. We bless the area and again it is very inspiring to walk around the grounds…a little heavy feeling too at times. The beauty of the day blesses it all. We then jump into our car and head north.

Meanwhile Vincent, Lesley and Roger have departed mid-morning to drive from Boston to New York. They are set to arrive approximately when Cleora and I do at our hotel. John and Leigh are driving in from Philadelphia too. Well, Cleora and I have decided it would be best to plan our arrival into New York through the Lincoln Tunnel, rather than over the George Washington Bridge which is what our car navigator prefers. We try to follow the road directions to the Lincoln Tunnel but we keep getting moved off this course — first by a phone call, then by our car navigator getting confused with our new direction. Finally we surrender to our car navigator’s first direction to pursue the course over the George Washington bridge. We laugh hilariously as we finally get back to the original route and smoothly sail across the George Washington bridge onto the Hudson Parkway. I get a call from Vincent just as I’m taking our exit off the Hudson Parkway. He tells me that he’s also exiting off the Hudson parkway. We look, and immediately in front of us is a white van with a Massachusetts license plate. We see a silver van in front of the white van. I ask Vincent if Roger is in a white van and if Vincent is in the silver van. Miracle of miracles, coming from different ways our three cars have magically aligned one behind the other as we drive up 56th street and all the way to our hotel. In the oneness! Nice way to start our New York trip.

After arriving at our hotel we go to our rooms and do our individual settling in process. John and Leigh arrive shortly after we do, and all of us choose different ways to take advantage of a night on our own in New York, before doing some late night emails. Tomorrow is a full day. Sweet dreams to all!
