Meet the Ministers and Volunteers of the Year from the Conference of Heaven on Earth

At MSIA, we often count our years between Conferences. From MSIA’s first Conference, the Conference of Acceptance in the 1970s, to the Conference of Service in the ’90s, to this year’s Conference of Heaven on Earth, we’ve been through quite a journey together in this Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness.

This year we honored Ministers of the Year, Steve Beimel and Elizabeth Frumin; Volunteers of the Year Bruce Rosenfeld, Enrique Gomez and Matt VanFossan; and Theresa Hocking who received a Lifetime Service Award for her outstanding service work in many capacities since 1980.

Minister of the Year – Steve Beimel

Minister of the Year - Steve Beimel

We recognize you as a beloved Gentle Giant
of pure dedication to the Traveler’s Teachings,
as you quietly and devotedly move the Light of God
into the world.

Japan is so blessed by your presence.
Your humor, enthusiasm and loving caring
lighten the burdens of the heart,
touching to all, as you walk with the Beloved
upon this path into the Heart of God.

My ministry involves working with Esprit Travel, which brings people (mostly North Americans) to Japan. It is our intention to provide people with life-enhancing and inspiring experiences of beauty and culture. I also lead meditation workshops at least once per month, where MSIA techniques are introduced and practiced. I maintain a private life coaching practice called A to B, and give A to B workshops, at least twice each month. A to B is based on the teachings of J-R, USM, and GTD. I began the process of translating MSIA materials into Japanese in 1980, and continue that today. It has been a very (very, very) slow process so far, but I guess I am enduring to the end! We now have a community of 7 MSIA initiates and ministers in Japan. Finally, as a way of giving thanks for all I have been given by Japan and her people, I recently started a project called Golden Age Kyoto, to support many beautiful and enriching aspects of Japanese culture that bring greater life fulfillment to so many people.

From Leigh Taylor-Young

Steve Beimel is my friend and I have known him for a very long time in this life, and I can only imagine we have been beautiful friends before.

I love history, art, and the culture of most countries. However, Japan is a newly discovered treasure trove of cultural inspiration for me. I first traveled there in March of 1988 and fell head long in love with the culture, and it was a shock. I am a post World War II baby, with a father who had been in the war in the Pacific. I grew up in an America when there was a shadow over any impressions of the Japanese. I carried an unconscious fear of Japan until this trip in 1988.

My earliest contact with Steve and his influence, began in the mid ’80’s in Southern California. He was deeply dedicated to the Traveler and MSIA, Jewish from Brooklyn with this remarkable knowledge of Japan, fluent in the language, married to a beautiful Japanese woman, Ritsuko, and had a remarkable young son, Ronnie. He soon began to open my eyes about Japan. The 1988 trip opened my heart. When Steve eventually moved back to Japan, to Kyoto, I remember a deep knowing in my heart that Japan would be blessed by his presence. And so it is. Over the years, J-R and John and Steve led many amazing trips to Japan.

In 2016, I got to observe the level of mastery that Steve demonstrates, as he guided our Traveler’s Tour. He and Elaine Baran and Esprit Travel provided a once in a lifetime experience of Japan. Steve was on fire. He is so inculcated with the history, and history’s intimate connection with the artists of both ancient and current Japan, that all of us left the Traveler’s Tour undeniably altered and infused with the finest of everything Japanese. Steve showed us what the world can truly learn from this culture. He also had started translating MSIA Discourses from English into Japanese and was leading a powerful class called A to B that included MSIA’s teachings, some USM and some of David Allen’s GTD concepts. His consciousness, dedication and perseverance and passion has laid down a powerful Light field in Japan. This came to a beautiful peak when over three years time, there have now been 7 ordinations and 7 initiations and John Morton leading active sharings and meditations in several parts of the country. Avid students of Steve, now interested and passionate to drink in the blessings, have come to hear the Traveler.

Oh, and Steve’s humor. It is hard to describe in the midst of his genius, but let’s say laughing with Steve over almost anything, is one of the ways I experience Heaven on Earth.

Our wonderful Minister of the Year, Steve Beimel.

My ministry is often expressed by saying yes to the intent and actions that might bring comfort, encouragement and peace to a situation and to someone where there is imbalance. This may be by calling in the Light, driving someone to an appointment or purchasing groceries for someone who is limited, writing a note of support, offering a PTS class or prayer communion, doing SEs. I reach out and extend my body, my hand and heart to help, to love, to give. I move beyond my opinions and considerations to assist. Through this, I often witness another aspect of God being mirrored to me. I receive so much through the giving and am privileged to be able to serve.

From Patti Raynr

What is specific and representative of Elizabeth is that she IS and HAS BEEN the absolute anchor for the PA MSIA Community in countless ways. I’ve watched her since the ’70’s and seen her do this through Insight days, Heartfelt/HeartReach days, times of turmoil and her community tearing asunder days, and HOLD, HOLD HOLD through her very being. She’s the one that everyone calls, she’s the one that leads/directs, she’s the one that keeps everyone and everything going — I think that is what we referenced in her plaque. There is no one in her community that has done this service, ministry and amazing and DIFFICULT job, in my opinion. Love, Patti

Volunteer of the Year - Bruce Rosenfeld

Through your kindness and gentle presence, you care tenderly and devotedly
for those who come into the Traveler’s embrace.

You quietly demonstrate your loving and caring with a twinkle and a Light touch.

We honor you as a Spiritual Warrior with a deep willingness to do Spirit’s work in this world.

From Angel Harper

Bruce Rosenfeld may be a quiet man but his caring speaks volumes. He goes about doing MSIA  Services with a gentle touch and thoroughness. Bruce takes the time to “be” with each one he’s with. Over and over again those who have been lucky enough to have had their Services with him speak to the loving and patience that they experience.

Through all the years I’ve worked with Bruce on the road, his willingness to do has been a godsend. Whatever is needed, he is there to the best of his ability. He truly serves with and from his heart.

Matt VanFossan's Award

[Matt’s award was the first ever written in Braille]

From Laren Bright

What I have observed about Matt is that he brings what I would describe as a “sweetness” to his service. His unwavering dedication and devotion to the Traveler infuses his service with a purity and clarity that I find lifts me and others with whom he serves. It’s just a treat to work with Matt in service.

Your devotion assists those who are making the Traveler’s teachings available to students around the globe.

You embody selfless service through your humble approach and willingness to do whatever is needed.

Be it translation, technology support, or just plain loving others,
You make it a joy to serve with you and be served by you.

We honor the love and dedication you bring to all you do and we are grateful for who you are

Conference of Heaven on Earth

From Sylvia Giussani

Enrique and I started assisting the DSS-YR1 online class 4 years ago and we have grown in the program up through YR-4. Assisting Spanish students only in the beginning, and Spanish and English later. He loves to hook up to all the devices to do tech support and allow participants to have partner experiences with folks in other areas. Very techy, and yet he is very connected to the ones he serves to support them and encourage them, making their experience easy and looking like as much as ‘in the room’ as we can. We like to make loving contact with participants while we help them. Always on time and present, he’s so accountable, his presence is so assuring and he so generously shares his great knowledge with systems – and his patience with me. And he’s willing to play, take the risks in learning new things and he’s really a noble and good-hearted person. I was sooo glad when I heard he had been awarded!

Lifetime Service Award – Theresa Hocking

Lifetime Achievement Award

THERESA HOCKING

Conference of Heaven on Earth
2018

I’m very grateful for this award and I was also very surprised to receive it. I met John-Roger (and John Morton) in person in November 1979 (if I have the date right) at an Insight I at the Inn of the Mountain Gods in Mescalero, NM. In 1980 I began volunteering – thank you John Morton for sharing the dream of having J-R’s transcripts in an organized library and for getting me started with MSIA volunteer work. Really, it is like getting an award for breathing because after I met the Mystical Traveler, and understood the magnificence, what else was I going to do but get involved as much as I could with the teachings. It’s been a huge part of my life and it is grace.

I’ve had wonderful projects through the years, and my favorite is Loving Each Day. Mark Lurie invited me to participate in May 1997 – so we’ve been doing 21 years of Loving Each Day. Right now there are twelve of us (including my husband Guy) involved in producing four languages of this daily blessing of the Traveler’s teachings. The MSIA presidency and staff are wonderfully supportive of volunteers, thank you.

My parents were stellar examples of giving and serving. They were Iowa farmers with six children but gave and gave to us and to their church and community. I grew up with the attitude of service and now there is no where I’d rather serve than MSIA.

From Deborah Martinez

Theresa is a service rock star. She and I first met in August of 1997 when I took on the management of the Loving Each Day quotes that MSIA sends out daily by email to subscribers in four languages. For 21 years, Theresa has been responsible for finding the J-R and John quotes which become Loving Each Day messages, and she has managed to find over 7900! These have become a library of J-R and John Morton quotes which can be accessed and searched by all of us for inspiration (www.msia.org/quotes). Truly an amazing work. But, that is not all that Theresa does and has done in service to MSIA, PTS and Heartfelt since 1980, from script editing to J-R Library work, from MSIA Rep in her community to projects for our Traveler John Morton. She and her husband Guy also serve with hospice in their local community. It is so true that service is not just what she does, it is who she IS. I love you my friend!
