When God Made Mother: A Poem

Louise Lautman shares:  “An old poem of mine discovered whilst clearing the office.  For the mother in us all…”

When God Made Mother

When God made mother, from a spare rib,
It transformed the world to include a crib.

When God made mother, Eve came along,
So did Mary and Christ was born.

With this It did the greatest feat, updating
Commandments with forgiveness, what a treat!

When God made mother, we came to know,
Unconditional loving is the way to go.

For a mother can love and sacrifice
Her own desires, wants, needs,
She forgives and forgets
Transgressions, ego’s greeds.

For many a mother, some softness brings
To balance out aggression, in the scheme of things.

When God made mother, it also came to pass
To be made of stone and not of glass…

Love and Light,

Louise Lautman
