My Experience of Ease and Grace in the Doctor of Spiritual Science Recorded Format

I’m so blessed to be part of the first group of Doctor of Spiritual Science (DSS) students and graduates who’ve completed five years of DSS in the online Recorded Format. Five years of logging on to five recorded classes each month. That’s more than 200 classes that continue to live inside me, inspiring me to be loving towards myself and others, to more fully experience the Travelers’ teachings, and to come into peace, acceptance, and gratitude daily. These recorded classes have filled my cup to overflowing and transformed the way I live my life.

One of the obvious benefits of participating in DSS Recorded Format is that you can do the course each month during the hours and days that work for you. During my five years of online study, I worked full-time and cared for my mother in the final years of her life. The Recorded Format was an incredible blessing of flexibility. And the class experience proved to be an immense source of rejuvenation for me, giving me a fuller heart to take on life’s challenges with tenderness and humor. I looked forward to the class every single month.

People may wonder, “Is it lonely doing DSS Recorded Format, with just you and your little laptop?” And I’m here to reassure you that you are never alone in this class, even in the Recorded Format. I felt Spirit and the Travelers were always with me. In every calling in of the Light, in every exercise I completed, in every way I tracked my journey and awakened to my Divine Nature, I was surrounded, filled, protected, and guided by the Highest on High. Some days, I could sense John-Roger chuckling, encouraging me to keep on keeping on.

I felt so nurtured by my fellow online classmates as we engaged with each other in regular Togetherness Sessions via Zoom. I loved discovering how other students were integrating the tools of DSS into their lives and ministries. Sharing my journey with them allowed me to clarify and claim my own growth and transformation. And in the time between these Togetherness Sessions, I grew stronger and more confident in facilitating myself through my gradual transformation. I learned how to trust my intuition, listen to my Compassionate Self, and ask for and truly receive Spiritual assistance. My DSS Reader and Practical Treatise Readers were also a great source of loving encouragement, reflection, and support.

And no surprise, I fell in love with Deborah Martinez, the beloved DSS facilitator who does such an amazing job of transmitting her enthusiasm, joy, wisdom, and laughter on the recordings. Her smile always came through my computer and into my heart, without a glitch. Thank you, Deborah, for your profound service and inspiration. You really kept me going for five years!

I must also thank all at Peace Theological Seminary (PTS) who make this recorded format program possible. The sparkling Aspen Sullivan, Director of Graduate Programs, is always at the ready to assist and support. The Readers and Assistants are angels on earth. It was a special blessing to be live and in person with PTS leadership, our Beloved Traveler John Morton, and fellow students for my DSS graduation on June 24th, 2026. We laughed, hugged, and blessed each other. We weren’t just faces on a screen after all!

And yet, I must confess that I do look forward to seeing these Beloveds from all over the world again, through the miracles of technology, as we audit DSS classes or join Reader meetings, or participate in the blessings of a Traveler Sharing. I’ll be in my loungey pants at home in Colorado, a cup of tea at hand, waving when I see your beautiful faces! And as always, we’ll come together online in the loving presence of Spirit.

Baruch Bashan.
