Wisdom Keepers in the Home of the Traveler

Silly giggles, sweet smiles and children telling Christmas jokes around the Christmas tree settled our precious Wisdom Keepers before calling in the Light for Christmas at Prana.

With a heart full of love, Elizabeth dedicated the afternoon to J-R. Loves energy and warmth filled the room. She welcomed a full house, and reminded the children that Wisdom Keepers are Lovers.

Wisdom Keepers love God with their whole heart, with their whole mind, and with their whole body. A short story spoke to loving people in the same way. “After World War I, a soldier found a statue of the Christ standing in the rubble of a demolished church. The hands had been blown off. The soldier took out a paper, pen, and wrote a note in large letters, then placed it in front of the statue. It read, ‘I have no hands but yours.” The children saw in the words the need to be the Living Love that we are. Love needs to be expressed in using our hands to hug each other, and to serve in loving wherever we are needed. Other wisdoms about Christmas symbols followed.

Excitement was felt when it was announced that John Morton had left presents of blessed angel pins with a red heart jewel for each child. A line was quickly formed, and each child spoke his or her name into the mic with a sharing of an idea about how to express God’s love through acts of kindness. The blessing pin from John was deeply cherished by both children and parents.

We moved into the dining area where the children and parents rolled beeswax candles. These were lit as Matt Van Fossan with his guitar led the children in light songs when we moved once again around the Christmas tree.

Next, Valerie Simon came forward with a dramatic reading of One Winter Night. After the telling, James Hopton was quick to discover that every character had been a Wisdom Keeper.

Crafts were waiting to be enjoyed, so the children moved back into the dining area to enjoy making snowmen necklaces, bracelets, toy boats, toy cars, Christmas ornaments, to paint wooden boxes, boomerangs, and toy soldiers.

After much fun being creative, the children moved back around the Christmas Tree where St. Nick suddenly made a surprise visit. Kevin McMillan and the children interviewed St. Nick and found out that a saint is someone who knows and lives the truth of being the Living Love. St. Nick rewarded each child with a surprise bag of chocolate coins symbolic of the gold coins that in his loving he had thrown secretly at night into the homes of the sick and poor.

Next, Eric Lumiere and Matt enthusiastically led Christmas Caroling. Prana was soon filled with full voice songs making everyone ready for the delicious desserts and hot chocolate that followed.

I think J-R must have smiled on our beautiful young Wisdom Keepers as they were caring, sharing, and loving in the joy of the wisdom of the heart.
