“Inner Worlds of Meditation” Part 1 — A Delightful Inner Journey with the Traveler

I’m here at 2101 Wilshire in Santa Monica for the “Inner Worlds of Meditation” webcast class with John Morton on May 23rd, 2006, sponsored by Peace Theological Seminary and College of Philosophy and the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness. As I get myself seated in the “press box” next to fellow eNDH reporter Penelope Bright, our MC for the evening Mary Ann Somerville steps on to the stage to ask everyone to take their seats. In anticipation of the class, I’m feeling a bit giggly like a kid in church.

Mary Ann does a lovely invocation of Light that calls us into our inner peace. We are next embraced with a song by Clara Beatriz Jaramillo singing “Angel”. It is a beautiful sharing of light and sound. We then take in a Moment of Peace video clip from a Japan trip with John-Roger. We listen for the silence within.

Since tonight’s class is “Inner Worlds of Meditation” there is a focus towards experiencing the Light, the Sound Current, and the loving that exists in each of us as a natural state of being. As I look around I notice that there are a lot of families here tonight. Children have a natural way of showing us what it is like to just be in the moment, and be Light, easy and playful.

Mary Ann introduces John Morton by speaking about the many peace tours she went on with him. She speaks of his continued openness and willingness to share himself. John takes the stage as we all welcome him. And, John welcomes all of us as his friends.

John starts by speaking a bit about the inner journey and what we will be participating in this evening with him. Traveling towards the inner realms of consciousness is coming aware, awake, coming alive to ourselves as Souls — the divine spark that is an extension of God. John then reads a quote from John-Roger’s book with Michael McBay called Spiritual High. John speaks about raising the frequency of the physical body. Transmitting a higher vibration to all levels of consciousness and body systems through spiritual exercises (chanting the sacred and ancient names of God).

We then participate in a breathing meditation by John-Roger on audio tape, followed by a breathing meditation on video that was filmed in Australia. It is quite peaceful.

Next, John introduces the HU meditation and guides us through the process of chanting this very powerful and enlightening ancient name of God. He goes on to explain chanting as being a way of singing. In my experience this is quite true. In fact I have told people that my singing voice has become better because of chanting. John talks about calling or singing out holy and sacred names as worship to God in our hearts.

Then we start to chant the name of God. John has us say the letters separate first. So we chant H——-U———–on an out breath. We do this several times. Then we do the letters together as HU—U-U-U-U-U. This we also do several times. I experience a great energy of peace and quiet inside of me that is restful.

Next, we practice the “THO” sound. We listen to an audio excerpt of John-Roger directing this very powerful and healing meditation. The stinging I had in my eyes is gone. As many times as I’ve used this tone of “THO” there always seems to be something new to experience.

Following this exercise, John then opens for questions from participants in the ballroom and on the Internet. The questions include: “Can we meditate in our sleep state on other levels?” and “What is the difference between dreams and visions during spiritual exercises?”

A participant in the ballroom stands to speak about having headaches for many years. John demonstrates and enlightens us about the many ways we can look at what we do, create, promote or allow. He also shows us how we can become masters of our own consciousness and take mental dominion over situations when we feel there is no hope.

In ending, John shares a blessing with us all. It is a blessing of harmonies and sacred peace. That’s the experience I have anyway. This is truly a blessed evening of grace and goodness. I am grateful I came. I am richer for it. I will return for the second part of this class on June 1st, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. pacific daylight time, online at www.msia.org/live and at 2101 Wilshire Blvd in Santa Monica, CA.
