Rather than a webcast class for June’s Internet event with John Morton, as we have customarily seen, we had an evening for Questions and Answers with our beloved Traveler on June 6th, 2007. What a treat!
We gathered as usual in the Brentwood Ballroom in Santa Monica, CA, and around the world through the Internet. Our charming MC, Nick Segal, called us all forward into the Light, and invited Nat Sharratt to the stage. Nat moved us deeply with his newest song, “Golden Eyes,” so moving and ethereal. We were treated to a couple of Moment of Peace videos, and then Jsu Garcia came forward to thank all the participants who helped to make the film Spiritual Warriors a reality and a success.
When John Morton, Spiritual Director of the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness (MSIA), was introduced, he opened the floor for questions on any subject, and he began by reading a couple of e-mails he had received. In response to these he discussed how life’s lessons often bring us gratitude, and also into the center of our hearts.
A question from someone watching via the Internet had to do with holding and abiding; John likened this to patience, cooperation, and waiting for clarification. He showed how it could also be about surrender.
In answer to a question about finding a job and money, John explained that it does not matter in what conditions we find ourselves. Trust the conditions to be opportunity to grow and gain. Ask for help, do your part.
A person in the Ballroom asked how to be more trusting of God. John sweetly reminded us to be grateful, and to embrace all of Creation — the Kingdom is at hand. Love is what answers every question.
In further responses, John was masterful in demonstrating that the Traveler has many ways of showing Its presence; that God is always radiating Light and Love onto the planet; that what can be shaken will be shaken; and that it is our responsibility and privilege to choose the Loving. He talked about living and loving freely, appreciating the beauty, asking for the Highest Good, and being patient.
In all of this, John was divinely entertaining. Most delightful was an e-mail he read to all, concerning how the sender perceived John’s public presentation of himself, describing in detail how they thought John could improve. John was really quite gracious in receiving the feedback, acknowledging the suggestions. And, he also reminded us that God makes us wholly acceptable and worthy just as we are. He closed with Baruch Bashan, which means, The Blessings Already Are.
