A Message from MSIA’s Spiritual Director John Morton About Hurricane Katrina

Article imageHere’s a message from John Morton, the spiritual director of the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness (MSIA), regarding hurricane Katrina:
Consider that this is yet another time of testing for all involved, which is intensified by the degree the conditions are found to be challenging.

How each person responds, regardless of the conditions, is what determines what will follow as an experience and results that transform the disturbance to greater good.

Strive to cooperate with what betters the situation.

Remember to connect to the divine source through prayer and inner communion with each breath, with each thought, with each action.

Trust in the source of all good which is God.

Minister to the hurt, frustration, anger, and reactiveness by calming, soothing, calling forward that which resolves rather than that which comes from fear and any form of negativity.

A good cry caresses.

Look for the joy and humor that lifts and releases the pressure. You can still laugh rather than hurt and suffer the outrageous misfortune.

Find the love. Express the heartfelt loving openly outloud and especially within.

Find your strength.
Find your peace.
Find your will to live and endure.
This is what shall raise you and all up.

Trust that this, too, shall pass and that a new day that brings new life thriving in the beauty and the grace is at hand.

When the earth has been upturned through upheaval and severe change, there is an equal opportunity to plant what is to be harvested.

Find the seeds of what you want to become in you, in others, and with God in every situation.

Leave what you don’t understand and do not fathom to God, that His ways may be revealed.

Call to what you want rather than what you don’t want.

Let what must pass go in peace and look to the new day.

Plant those seeds again and again, and then tend to them until what you seek is born out.

Remember, all of this is governed by the way of the Lord. Those who are aligned shall be rewarded and multiplied in all that comes by the Lord.

In all this, find acceptance and the willingness to give in kind. For whatever we may bear witness in truth, let us praise the Lord in thankfulness for guiding us through to salvation.

Baruch Bashan (which means, the blessings already are).
