On Friday, December 12th, the NOW crew with Phil Danza, Richard Price and Roger Wakefield were underway setting up for the multi-author Book and DVD event on the second floor at the Barnes and Noble Booksellers at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. Christi Mider was right there as the liaison for whatever was needed, doing a yeoman’s work the entire day. The staff at the Barnes and Noble were doing everything they could to have available good signage, great book displays, chairs, tables and anything else we asked for. Zoe Golightly stopped in to make arrangements for the selling of the Spiritual Warriors DVDs and we all huddled for a few strategic decisions.
By 6pm we were just about ready at the Barnes and Noble and all that remained was to once again remember to place more Light Columns and take time for a little coffee/tea pick-us-up run for me and the NOW crew! Ahh, sometimes that caffeine just hits the spot! We didn’t have long to wait before people started coming in to grab a seat and purchase their copies of John Morton, DSS, The Rest of Your Life by John-Roger, D.S.S. and Paul Kaye, D.S.S. and Spiritual Warriors DVD produced by John-Roger, D.S.S. with Jsu Garcia. There was a special Buy 2, Get 1 Free offer only available during this evening’s event and this created a nice Christmas buying buzz. Soon J-R, Jsu and a little contingent appeared along with John Morton and Leigh Taylor-Young, and Paul Kaye. What a treat to have J-R with us! Jsu asked that we wait a few more minutes to allow for people dealing with the rainy weather and traffic to be with us. As we waited Terri DeSalvo, the Barnes and Noble Community Relations Manager welcomed all of the speakers and Leigh, our M.C. for the event. As Jsu gave us the thumbs-up, Terri took the microphone and welcomed the group and the presenters to the store and introduced Leigh. Leigh, warm and radiant as ever, took the mic and began the event by introducing Paul Kaye as the first speaker. Paul went right to the heart of the matter by leading us through an experience of the “Rest” of our life in this moment. For awhile it seemed that the entire store was resting too as all was divinely still.
Continuing in the same vein of serenity John moved us into witnessing the blessings that we are, that we have, that are available for us to claim and know even more. When Jsu came forward to talk, into the quiet was brought the most delightful joy and Spirit…irrepressible! Just seeing Jsu often brings a smile as he expresses so freely and unabashedly his love and admiration for John-Roger and all that John-Roger has brought forward. Jsu dropped in the reminder to buy the Spiritual Warriors DVD and keep buying and giving it, such a beautiful and powerful presentation of Spirit and the teachings and a great story too!
Well , the crowning moment came when J-R came forward and spoke to us and then did a Question and Answer session that brought repeated tears of gratitude to my eyes. The majesty and beauty of the love and Spirit that emanated through him and enveloped us and the store, the way time just seemed to be suspended, is beyond what I have the words to convey. I’m just grateful to have been there. Afterwards, as the store was closing, we had the most commando book buying and signing session (as well as packing up of the a/v equipment) that I’d ever seen. Somehow everyone who wanted to buy and get their book signed, did. The store was happy, and we were beyond happiness. What a beautiful and grace-filled evening!
