Screening of The Wayshower at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara, October 15th 2011

“Follow the spiritual journey of the young J-R … it all comes down to believing in yourself.”
– Santa Barbara News Press

Every screening of The Wayshower is special, and mostly because everything that John-Roger touches is special, precious and filled with Spirit beyond measure.

Our events in Santa Barbara on October 15th were a perfect testament to this and to the power, love and grace of John-Roger.

Karen Williams, Cleora Daily and Kay Turbak headed up the event, and they have each shared a little of their miraculous journey serving with these events …

FROM KAREN WILLIAMS …

(I totally loved being a vessel of the Light with y’all…it was so awesome watching so many people sitting there watching The Wayshower with us last night!
It was an honor for me also, to serve with you all. Last night was my best night ever! I look forward to our next event together 🙂
Much Love, Light & Gratitude, Karen)

I was thrilled to get a call from Zoe GoLightly a couple of months ago, letting me know ‘the guys’ wanted to do a preview screening of ‘The Wayshower’ in Santa Barbara and that this would be the last preview screening prior to the premiere screening in Los Angeles in March. It had already been decided by J-R and Jsu to have the screening at the Arlington theatre, followed by dinner at Tre Lune in Montecito.

A couple of nights later we had our Ministers meeting in Santa Barbara and with much delight I announced the movie screening and requested volunteers to assist with fundraising. Within a week, two of the Ministers who volunteered to assist; Cleora Daily and Kay Turbak, were providing me with poster lists and names of other Ministers to contact. It was team work right from the start!

As the momentum was building, so was the excitement and enthusiasm for making this the best screening ever for our Beloved Travelers and Jsu. The marketing team did an amazing job of displaying posters all around town and making calls to everyone on discourses. Emails were sent out to family, friends, various businesses and just about everyone imaginable! Ads were placed and Facebook was all about the The Wayshower! With so many other events happening in Santa Barbara at the same time as The Wayshower movie, we all attuned as vessels of the Light, to do our very best in creating a huge awareness and to make this event special for everyone.

Mo McFadden, a fabulous local entertainment publicist was also hired to promote the movie and she did an amazing job. Busy with preview screenings in Paris and London, Jsu and Zoe returned to LA two weeks prior to the Santa Barbara screening. Zoe’s head must have been spinning with all she was doing, yet being the amazing beacon of Light Zoe is, she drove to Santa Barbara, not once but twice in the last few days prior to the event to meet and finalize details.

After enjoying a lovely relaxing day at Windermere, everyone started making their way to the Arlington. The Registration team were all set up by 3pm ready for those who wanted to arrive early to listen to the local organist at 4. Mo McFadden arranged a last minute PR stunt and had a team of motorcyclists drive up and down State Street handing out post cards. The last of the posters were put up all around the theater and excitement was everywhere!

No one really knows how many were at the screening Saturday night. From where I was sitting the Arlington looked pretty full and it seats over two thousand two hundred people! Since the screening, I have received various emails from local Ministers, one in particular Angela Bell, who had feedback from a friend who watched The Wayshower that night. She mentioned to Angela that she had received healing while watching the movie and decided afterwards to sign up for Discourses! Who knows how many others had similar experiences.

One of the great things I have noticed with MSIA events is that a lot of karma and negativity gets worked out and released. In us all coming together and working as a team to support this screening of The Wayshower, I truly felt the ‘Oneness’ present and as I sat watching the movie my heart was overflowing with joy, gratitude and Loving for our Beloved Wayshower.

FROM CLEORA DAILY …

(Totally loved doing this. Totally loved working with each of you. De-light-full day and de-light-full events. Thanks oodles!! What a great team. xoxoxo Cleora)

Karen Williams, Kay Turbak and I stepped forward to oversee having The Wayshower pre-screening movie in Santa Barbara. The community focus was to do this as a “thank you” to J-R. We decided to make the screening FREE to the entire community of Santa Barbara at our famous Arlington Theatre. A beautiful theatre that is the center of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. So we began with great enthusiasm and joy.

As with all MSIA events, Spirit directed and led. The expansion for me was moving into a greater level of cooperation with moment to moment changes. And, believe me, there were changes. I love organization, details & completion, but little did I know that this event was to move in an “open ended” fashion. I was to quickly learn that agreements and plans made could change in a blink. “Organic” became the ‘buzz-word’.

During the event, I looked about the room and everyone seemed to be in complete joy, endless chatting, and had the opportunity to go to each of the Travelers for their ‘special’ love moment. Ah-h-h-h….lovely…sweet bliss.

FROM KAY TURBAK …

(The events yesterday were totally awesome and (in my POV) were magnificent. Many thanks to all of you for your vision, expertise, excellence and humor.
It was an honor to serve with you three. We are blessed!
Just did article. Got SO SO HIGH writing it … KT)

Expansion. This was the key element for me in working with Zoe, Karen and Cleora to create, envision, promote, assist, and hold for The Wayshower.

I am a behind-the-scenes type. I love to organize and assist, but try to avoid doing “promo”. It became so apparent that my next step was to expand and play on a “bigger field”, entering that space where I would do whatever it takes to make this community event the most successful ever. I seeded, I prayed, I envisioned and I worked on many levels. Heading up the “calling team”, reaching out and sharing my loving through the telephone, brought so much joy. Another vehicle of expansion was to hand out flyers and put up posters everywhere I could. In a small market in Santa Ynez I managed to place a large poster in the window, knowing that the local cowboys would get the ride of their lives after seeing J-R’s picture! In the Goleta Community Center I dropped off posters and flyers and had an immediate positive response from a stranger who wanted to attend. Shopkeepers and storeowners were amazingly positive, and I became more fearless and impeccable in my approach.

Just before, during and after the screening, I witnessed several “miracles”. One of the elders of our church greeted John-Roger and got to introduce her partner to him. (I still tear up when I recall this darshan-type exchange). Two leathered bikers (Santa Barbara Motorcycle Club members rode up and down State Street and parked their bikes in the Arlington walkway as a pre-movie publicity stunt) told me afterward, “It was an Academy Award winning film.” It was uplifting to pass out the DVD version of “The Spiritual Warrior” movie to ushers, popcorn makers and theatre staff – at least three of them fell in love with Jsu Garcia that night!

The bottom line for me was that in choosing to support this event, to stretch and expand beyond my wildest dream, I was given many gifts, ineffable but palpable.
Such is the way of The Wayshower.
