An Evening of Something Different — MSIA’s Internet Broadcast with John Morton on May 22nd Features Wisdom from Children and a Live Band

Article imageRoseate flowers graced the stage in the Brentwood Ballroom for MSIA’s Internet Broadcast with John Morton on May 22nd in Santa Monica, California, and live on the Internet worldwide. It was a night of something different — with a live band and lots of sharing from children in the audience and online.

Acting as Master of Ceremonies was Deborah Martinez, who received warm applause when she introduced herself as MSIA’s webmaster who oversees MSIA’s various Internet offerings. Then, referring to an on-screen map of the world, she announced that there were listeners tuned in from Brazil, Mexico, Great Britain, Sweden, and Australia, as well as several states in the U.S. and a couple of provinces in Canada. Deborah then called in the Light and led us in chanting the Ani-Hu, explaining that this was akin to a choir coming into attunement and harmony, adding that we are attuning to Spirit.

Deborah then welcomed the live band for the evening, a group of musicians including: Dr. Marc Darrow on mandolin, guitar and banjo; Brad Pie on bass; Paul Davidson on guitar; and Emunah Hauser on the violin. They played “Tall Slender Boy”, a song Marc said was named after Paul Davidson, “Cowboy’s Quest”, an original song by Marc Darrow, and a very speedy rendition of “Foggy Mountain Breakdown.” The music was much appreciated, and received a standing ovation.

Deborah then introduced John Morton by telling a story of the first time she experienced John in person giving a seminar. She added, “He opens us to our own movement of spiritual inner awareness” and then added jokingly, “He’s not just a pretty face.”

John Morton took the stage, and said that he had been asked to do something different this night, so he shared testimonials about love, and some letters from children about what Love really is. These were received warmly and with much laughter. John then explained how the Question and Answer session worked, and began taking questions from attendees in the Ballroom, and on the Internet:

“Why is it so hard to be human, and how do you know when to discipline a child?” “How can I be more conscious of being Spirit-led in parenting, and what can I do when I find myself making decisions based on my own personal limitations?” One young boy, age five, shared that “it’s never dark in God.”

“My friend received deep healing and understanding — was it because of seeing photos of John-Roger and John Morton, or through the tapes I gave them?” John commented that it was all of that, and also their connection to the friend through Spirit. Another question was: “How can I take care of myself, and still sacrifice myself to a relationship?”

A young lady then asked, “Where does God come from? John’s answer: “Everywhere.” Other questions were: “Does life get easier or harder when you become an initiate of the Traveler?” “What am I to learn here?” And, a question from an Internet participant in Brazil “How can I move from stubbornness to determination?”

“What is the difference between Free Will and God’s Will? What I heard John say, and this is paraphrasing: There’s no such thing as free will — it’s all God’s Will, but in God’s Will is an amazing diversity and choice.

From a young lady in New Mexico: “A boy at school keeps kicking me. Should I stand up for myself or let it go?” Another young man, age 11, said, “I have these weird visions of myself when I look in the mirror. Sometimes they scare me. What should I do?”

A participant on the Internet in Venezuela asked, “How can I keep myself tuned to the experience of God’s will when fear gets in the way?” Other questions included: “I have been experiencing low energy; how can I get more in touch with the larger stream of energy and enthusiasm?” And last, but not least, a young man asked, “How was God created?”

John closed the evening with “Baruch Bashan,” and explained that Baruch Bashan means “The blessings already are.” Then MC Deborah Martinez made announcements of upcoming events, including an evening with Dr. Paul Kaye on Thursday, May 29th at 7:30 p.m. in this same Ballroom in Santa Monica. The focus of that event will be “What’s It Like Being You?” Deborah then invited everyone to partake in the refreshments in the ballroom, and to visit with friends, old and new.

And, from Internet land, here’s a sharing from Teri Wunderman about her experience of tuning in online for this event:

Here in Miami, as I sat in my jammies tuning in to what has become for me the “Tonight Show with Johnny Morton,” I noticed this night how we were blessed to see many of the participants up close and personal, on full screen for a good part of the evening. We were able to watch beautiful, peace-filled transformations on the faces of our beloveds as Spirit moved them, especially all the precious children stepping forward with their many inspiring questions. It was equally great to see John in the little circle at the bottom of the screen supporting and loving his spiritual family in their new awarenesses.

As a parent, I especially appreciated hearing John encourage us to make it a priority in our lives to have a good time with our children, rather than arguing about eating vegetables or being caught up in the specifics of discipline practices. I liked hearing about the value of tucking in our children at night, how as they drift off to sleep, it’s a good idea to remind them of their goodness and how they are adored by us and God.

As children wrote in via the Internet or stood up courageously at the microphone in the Ballroom in their jammies, they offered a sweet reminder that we are all together on this path of loving and learning together no matter how many years we’ve been on the planet. How great it is to see that even when we feel shy or don’t understand the answers, sharing in these Q&A’s is really about having a giggle and a good time. And we can do that whether we’re in the Brentwood Room in Santa Monica or snuggled up with our pillows and teddy bears at home tuning in on the Internet.

Although my eyes closed off and on during the broadcast, as they often do when I am lullabied by the Traveler, I am grateful to NOW Productions for the wonderful way I was tucked in and reminded of my goodness. And I can always check in at the Archives to see and hear what I might have missed. Looking forward to “seeing” everyone at the next “Heeeeeeeeere’s Johnny!”

Here are some other comments from participants on the Internet:

From Buenos Aires, Capital Federal, ARGENTINA:

This seminar was very special for me. I am grateful for having heard the sharing of the children, who awoke much love and fresh air in my heart. [In] the presence of such renewing souls I lifted myself inside myself into the infinite presence of the supreme God. Thank you, John Morton, for what you teach and for this great night.
May God fill you with Blessings.
– E.V.

From Montevideo, URUGUAY:

Gratifying, very gratifying.
The peace of your heart reached me.
The world is small as a handkerchief: these Internet transmissions make us wave the handkerchief to greet us, and not to dry tears, and if there should be tears, may they be not for pain, and if tears are present, then being together is best.
And that came out rhyming [in Spanish].
A hug, with love,
– M.

From Ojai, CA, UNITED STATES:

The part that got me was when we began by chanting the Ani-Hu. I realized at that moment, that people all over the world were chanting with me at that moment. That’s amazing.
