It is a chatty crowd at the 2101 Wilshire building awaiting the start of “The Power Within You” webcast class with John Morton, and even if we don’t all actually know each other, we Know each other. So many friends, so little time! I notice how I gravitate to the loving — to the Light in the eyes.
Our MC, Nick Segal, welcomes everyone with his warmth and humor, and after a short invocation, he led us in chanting the Ani Hu, an ancient name for God coupled with a word that evokes empathy. He introduced Clara Beatriz Jaramillo, who enchanted us with a song she had written (in Spanish) about a hummingbird.
We were treated to a couple of Moments of Peace, mini-videos from the Traveler’s travels, featuring John-Roger, DSS, Founder of the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness (MSIA), and John Morton, DSS, Spiritual Director of MSIA. Next, Jsu Garcia was introduced, and he gave us information about the next screening of the film Spiritual Warriors (Beverly Hills, June 2nd at 7:30pm at the Fine Arts Theater). Then Nick introduced John Morton by sharing an experience he had with John Morton that illustrated how John Morton loves unconditionally.
John began the evening by sharing a letter about the Power Within You (the subject of tonight’s class). He also discoursed on the Power Within, accessing it, working it in Light and Higher Consciousness. He put out the rhetorical question, “How can I access the power within when I need it?”
Then John asked the audience, those of us on hand in Santa Monica, and those attending via the Internet, “If you had The Power, what would you create?” Answers from the group ranged from health, wealth, joy, world peace and healing, to great wealth and happiness.
John listed many of the ways that we block ourselves from Success, including: fear, low self-esteem, unworthiness, procrastination, distraction, superiority, judgments, criticism, resistance, self-righteousness, misdirection, making assumptions, and focusing on what we don’t want.
John explained John-Roger’s definition of the word “Success” and then we all participated in a partner exercise regarding successes we’ve had in our lives.
John recounted a story from his youth, about the day he played basketball “perfectly”, and read a quote from J-R’s book, The Power Within You. He led us in an inner exercise, focusing on our breathing, and then began the Questions and Answers section.
Questions were many and varied, and John’s gentle answers followed along the lines of cooperating with the direction of life, finding success in all things, finding inner success, sharing, and gratitude.
He closed with Baruch Bashan, which means, The Blessings Already Are, and they ARE!
