John-Roger on the Spiritual Promise — Part I

Article imageThere are many in this line of Mystical Travelers. You people in here have the spiritual promise of becoming a Mystical Traveler—that doesn’t mean that you’ve got it, it means that it’s highly probable. Maybe not here, but Mystical Travelers are needed in other universes and other galaxies.

The spiritual promises that are unfolding on the planet are so great and the glory is so great that a lot of us (unknowingly—but knowingly in our subconscious) can’t seem to wait to get into tomorrow, or into next week, to the new things that are there. And yet we don’t really know what they are.

All of a sudden people catch the vision: You did it. I can do it. You can feel the Light. I can feel the Light. You can send it. I can send it. You can receive spiritual healing. I can receive spiritual healing. Anything you can do, I can do better. Well, the Bible says, “These things that I do you too shall do and even more.” Are we going to make a liar out of Jesus? We’re going into a new age, a great golden age, a great spiritual promise. The golden age is going to be very happy, isn’t it? How are you going to get there unless you have happy thoughts? Do you think all of a sudden somebody is going to give you a happy pill?

One of the Mystical Travelers was Jesus the Christ, who came in and took things on himself physically in one great big fell swoop, and worked out an awful lot of things for an awful lot of people—things that they could see. But the thing they couldn’t see was the work that was going on in the other levels. And yet, because of that work, we all have gained and grown considerably. It becomes a spiritual promise to us. I come back to a certain theme every once in a while that this man said, “These things that I do, you too shall do, and even greater.” Somebody once said to me, “Do you compare yourself to Jesus the Christ?” I said, “No. The things that I’m doing are even greater.” They said, “Oh, my God, how can you say that?” I said, “I didn’t say it. He said it.” They said, “Point out the scripture,” and I said, “Sure. I’d be glad to.” And I read it to them. They said, “He didn’t mean you.” I said, “Who did he mean?” And something inside of them said, “Maybe he meant me. Maybe if it could be you, it could be me, right?” The answer is, “It sure can.” I think he meant you, too—and you, and you, and you. I don’t think he laid anybody’s name out and said, “You, Harry Smith, are the only one. I hope you’re alive at that time.” I think what he’s referring to is those people who will accept the spiritual consciousness and go towards it. They are the ones who will do these things. The other people aren’t going to be able to get out of bed, let alone walk on water. It will be those who get up and get going, who do their work, who perform on whatever level it is. It doesn’t have to be leading a great spiritual movement across the planet in a mass exodus towards Mars. That would be a beautiful idea for some TV show, but maybe it isn’t that kind of thing at all. Maybe it’s sitting at home and keeping the house neat and clean, cooking and mending clothes, and just loving your family. You sometimes say, “Yeah, but God, I want to be of more service.” Then maybe we should put your name up on a neon sign that says, “Here lives Suzie Smith. She’s of service.” You say, “Not that type of service.” I say, “Well, it wasn’t my idea what the service was. You’re the one who’s reading the action. I just said we’ll put up a sign.” Then you realize that you may have misinterpreted. Maybe other people will too if you try to be of service. Why don’t you just let them come to you and work with them on the levels that will be right and proper? Some people ask, “How can I do this?” We say, “We Put it in the Light.” How do we put it in the Light? Say, “Father-Mother-God, I ask for the Light to surround me now, and this idea of being of service. You know what I can do. I’ll just let it go. It’s in your hands.”

The Father has presented a spiritual promise to all of the bearers of Light and their consciousness, and that is that they will become heirs to the kingdom of God. It’s a beautiful promise that cannot be aborted no matter what you do, unless you turn into darkness. Then you automatically change it for the time being. But later on, in ultimate reality, you’re going to get there—in ultimate reality. Don’t ask me what ultimate reality is for any particular case. That’s your choice.

I was talking with some of the people around me who I work with closely and they said, “I didn’t want to feel like I was doing an ego trip.” And I said, “What’s wrong with an ego trip?” They looked a little perplexed, as though we’re not supposed to do ego trips. That’s the biggest bunch of bull-roar you’ll ever hear. Everybody’s doing an ego trip. If you weren’t, you wouldn’t be on this planet. You have to have enough ego to maintain yourself here or you’re shot down. It’s a defense mechanism. You just tell me in your mind which you think is the greatest: the person that does an ego trip and lifts people around him or the one that does the humility trip and blocks everybody. Which is the greatest one? Humility is not a virtue unless it becomes virtuous by its nature. Neither is a big ego virtuous except by its nature. Neither is anything, except by its nature. If we have a low ego and it blocks us, and we have a large ego and it blocks us, what is the difference? It’s a block. And if we use it to free us, then what is the difference? We are free. Freedom here and now—this is the spiritual promise. This is spiritual liberation.

If you want a motto to live by, I suggest that it be “Always use love.” If you can always come from love, pretty soon you will always be love. Then you will be the living love, which is the Beloved, and that is the spiritual promise. Everybody has it in them. Part of the mystery of this planet is that it’s already inside of you.

You can’t promise ten thousand years, and you can’t promise tomorrow. But you can live right now, and that’s all there is. The spiritual promise does not deal with this plane, and so therefore it is a promise, and that promise will be kept. I made that promise to the people I work with in Spirit, and every one of you know that I have kept my word with you, even when you broke yours. I kept mine, and even when you break yours tomorrow, I will keep mine, because I didn’t say that I would do it if you did what I told you to do. I said, “Yes, I’ll work with you…unconditionally.” That eliminates chaos in God. It brings direction, it brings completion, it brings the ability to endure all things. Jesus, the Master said, “He wins who endures to the end,” but not in those words.

The spiritual promise is that thing that is inside of you that you have done nothing to earn from this level here. A spiritual gift is something you have done from this level that is recorded in Spirit and comes back into this level. Jesus the Christ was a spiritual promise. From Spirit he was promised in and came through, and he fulfilled it. He could have negated it, if you accept the concept of free will. I say there was no way he could have negated it because it was a spiritual promise. It was a promise. But he also made a promise from the physical world: “I will return.” When he does, that’s a gift. That would be a spiritual gift.

  1. Wow, I hear the voice of truth speaking. To trust that the Light will is bringing forward the perfect service in the here and now, that’s a beautiful thing.
