Synchronous Creativity and Transcendent Leadership

Robert Waterman, Ed.D., is an educator and spiritual counselor who offers experiential learning in the ancient mysteries, spiritual science, and Noetic field therapy. Robert has studied universal techniques and spiritual principles with John-Roger since 1966 and with Neva Dell Hunter in the 1970’s. Robert serves on the advisory council to PTS’s Transcendent Leadership Program. This article is an excerpt from a talk he gave to the TL cohort of students and faculty at our Spring Residency in Los Angeles.

There are certain ways that we’re made, and all this work we are doing with transcendent leadership is to take advantage of that and to cultivate that. For me anyway, it has taken getting a lot of ideas out of the way. The guiding principle of creation is that love will have its way. The way we coordinate our lives with that principle is to use everything to transform ourselves into loving. As we fully open our hearts to all, we enter a synchronous harmony with the heart of all.

The first step we take into the synchronous awareness of love is to dissolve or change all the beliefs and things we built up to protect our hearts. When we get hurt growing up, we build up armoring around our heart. Now we are aware that we have a sacred dimension to our heart and we would like to go there. When we try, we encounter beliefs and ideas and protections and superstitions. We build up an idea about ourselves and what it’s like to love or not love. To continue we must do a lot of work forgiving and resolving beliefs. These are really fine traces in our energy field that have a pattern of those earlier times.

As much as we’ve done to resolve those barriers, so we can go into that sacred place in the heart—there’s like a filament, membrane, or armoring that has patterns that we put there to protect our heart. It still holds a place in our consciousness. We can ask ourselves, what are the ways those barriers continue to stylize my personality? What is it about my personal style that is still using those barriers as a template, and puts a slight distortion on the way I exchange my loving with people, or how I hold my space, or protect myself, or open up to people?

When we are with a group that holds a relational center of loving, that continual reflection of love keeps us centered. When we are away from that group, we can gradually run down. Our sense of support dissipates. Our orphaned places (times in which our self-beliefs did not incorporate love) begin to assert themselves. We can consciously step back into those times and incorporate loving in those memories and balance the pattern. However, when you touch into these places unconsciously, they start to collaborate with similar elements in our environment, and we start collecting allies for our own shadows that we didn’t know we had. They reinforce our old patterns. Then we will go into a style of being that’s not quite authentic. So in learning to rest in the loving, we know that the purpose for looking at this is to consider that it’s always best to keep vigilant and aware and keep polishing. The small things at that point are going to make a big difference.

The other kind of basic center (along with the heart) is the head center. Loving is circulating through that as well, and then the part that goes between heaven and earth, the transcendent self has the ability to hold in that consciousness. When you started out on your process with Soul Transcendence, people said “Put your attention on the tisra til and wake it up.” It’s like a doorway; you move through that. So maybe that’s twenty years ago when you were first studying, and now you take it for granted—the holding of your will in that frequency. It’s another very subtle thing, because life’s always pulling you here and there.

We don’t account for the fact that the perception we think we’re living in isn’t quite as it seems. We become accustomed to our shared jargon because we’ve been working so much in the Light together. The jargon itself becomes a narrative, and our narrative about the Light becomes a distortion of the Light. Because of the way our psyche works our basic self starts taking that distortion as reality. So maybe we need a narrative check: “Oh, have we gotten to where we’ve created a closed loop with our narrative?” We create a narrative of our heart, a narrative of our head, a narrative of our relationships and our group and our studying the Light, our narrative about transcendent leadership. We get a really good feeling going, and then it closes the loop so that we’re in a universe of our own perception. Any time that happens we’re not integrated with the field of everything. We are not living in the synchronous flow of the creative universe.

That’s the setup, the framework, to get back to how synchronous creativity fits into this head, heart, center, periphery, center, circumference. We’re living in that. The heart center keeps us in reality, and through the vertical axis Spirit is flowing in and out into life. All of your beliefs code that energy and put that frequency in it. Then the reality reads that and gives you back the reality that you programmed your field to be. That’s the setup.

So you can always count on reality being exactly like you are. That’s good news, and that’s kind of scary. Life is just going to show me myself. When you really get that that’s going on, you can look at this at two levels. One is the Soul level, where you’re this consciousness that is a lens of the Light, where that circulation is going through you. That frequency is coming through when you’re in that Soul place and embodied in that Soul place. It comes through all the time, but I’m talking about being conscious of it.

The other level is whatever is in your field that you’ve invented or borrowed or been implanted with or enculturated to. Or it’s in your genes or you’ve inherited it—that’s all in the field, too. So we make this distinction between the personality and the Soul, or the ego and the Soul, not as an oppositional thing; they’re integral. But they’re looking in different frequencies of the mirror. One of the basic Traveler teachings is: How do you stay in the Light? You just be present with what is and see what you notice and then you respond. It can be that simple. Everything else will take care of itself, because we meet ourselves in the presence.

John Morton was talking about acceptance earlier today. When we’re in true acceptance, then we’re in acceptance of everything our perception is showing us. That’s different than agreement or viewpoint or having other ideas about it. Our attitude is acceptance. Then there’s the thing behind that called the Soul. When the Soul looks out, when you look out from the Soul, that is where we get into synchronous creativity.

All of this is synchronous. We think of creativity as: we have an idea, we plan it, we put it into action. But really, creativity just is. We’re making this all the time. Whatever this setup is that we are, we’re making this reality all the time. We’re collaborating and God knows what else is collaborating with us. That’s a true statement—God knows. So by tapping into that you’re in a very different relationship to your creativity. You may have your ego out there making the drawings and talking to people, but the Soul’s here in a different alignment with it. It’s in collaboration with everything. The Soul cannot help but be in collaboration with everything. As Soul we are a synchronous presence.

When you look out from the Soul viewpoint, you see all the stuff the ego sees as reflected back from the mirror. But we also see the Soul on the other side of the mirror looking back at itself. So when the Soul looks at something, it’s simultaneously an inside/outside perception. In other words, you’re looking out here—the ego is looking out here—keeping the circuits intact. When the Soul looks through that, it sees that, and it’s also looking back through creation. It’s not just like looking in the mirror in the morning and combing your hair. It is looking out through the mirror, combing your face. It’s like a bunch of fractals, where every belief, every texture, everything going on in creation has a little refractive participation.

The home of the Soul is the other side of the mirror, and it’s looking back through the mirror. When it’s looking back at you, it’s also looking back through everything. You’re looking out from the Soul and every other Soul is looking back at you throughout everything else. Souls can be in the same place at the same time. I know you’re kind of fond of having an individual Soul, but it’s just individually conscious while it’s mushed up with everybody else. So it is individual, but it’s also not individual.

The Soul is tracking in a very different way. It’s just present. It is with the synchronicity, the synchronous everything. The mind can’t keep up with that. In that presence, there is a spontaneous collaboration going on, and we only know what it’s doing if we are present with it. It’s another way to look at what bilocation is—we are in our Soul, but we are also in our personality. Our Soul is always sitting behind our personality, informing it.

The only way I know to stay in that synchronous Soul place is to be so loyal to that level of loving that it will hold you in that place. There’s a place in the heart that holds that presence, and there’s a place in the head that holds to the cosmic love, the transcendental love. You simply hold those two in the same place. Rather, allow the love to hold you in that place. You can probably touch that in spiritual exercises, but it’s that silent place. It’s kind of eerie sometimes, because when you get in that place everything else seems unreal, but then you have to act like it’s real, because everything is watching.

You know, forever I’ve heard the statement: The blessings already are. You’re the blessing that already is. This is a way to keep reminding us that this synchronous nature of the Soul is in a time that everything is. So how does your reality come about? How does the Soul play a part in bringing things about? The Soul is bringing everything into that presence for you. At the same time, you’re doing your diligence in the world, the Soul is active, negotiating all of that to come to be. You could also say Spirit’s negotiating all of that to come to be.

Robert Waterman Smiling Synchronous Creativity

Can we live in chaos and peace at the same time? That’s a measure of synchronous creativity. How do we practice? Well, let’s turn on the news and then we’ll practice staying in peace while we watch the news. It’s a good exercise. We can stay in that. It’s not just a calm place. I call it noisy peace when we get conscious of that dimension and it turns into a space. It has its own breathing and it has its own anatomy. So at the same time we do, we watch ourselves do.

It’s total responsibility. Whenever feelings come in, just treat them as information. Be present with it. As soon as you do that, it’ll start telling on itself—whether it’s coming from outside or inside, or it may be leading you to something new. Even something that creates a bad feeling might be the Light trying to bring you something. But you can’t tell that as long as you’re identifying with your feelings. It’s watching that one place where when a feeling comes in you don’t identify with it. One way you can tell: If somebody offends you, do you want to punch them? That’s identifying with a feeling, right? You’re sad, so you identify with the sadness. Maybe you don’t think you are and then somebody tries to talk you out of it and you start arguing against them. You’ve identified with the sadness: “No, that’s me, and I have to protect it.” So you practice watching out for this.

Part of staying in this lens is that ability to hold your identity in the loving. Not the in love with, but the loving. Loyalty to that. That’s the only identity. It’s like learning how we function and using it differently. What do you choose to identify with? Start building up this quality that is Soul-identified. It will make a distinction with the information that is coming in as feelings, and then you can take your attention and start accessing or unpacking what that information is about.

One of the first applications here is starting to research how your synchronous creativity is working. Start studying how it’s working—how it keeps you navigating through life and keeps your life intact and how your Soul qualities and personality traits collaborate. Learn how that’s working, because your synchronous creativity is working perfectly. Once you catch on to how it’s working perfectly, then you can change the information. You can change the code. You can decide which codes. You can choose out of this code and choose into that code.

The Light is always quite simple. It’s just where the loving exists in and of itself, where the loving is. That’s the ideal state. How does that look when it is embodied practically in life? It could look like everything. In my prayer, I say “Thy will be done.” What I discovered for myself was that God’s will is easy to understand. It’s just this affirmation that love will have its way. You’re always in that. Not just a trust, but a knowing that whatever you see going on in the world is some version of love having its way. Your detective work is discovering how that’s going on.

While we are still identified with the way things are or the way things have been, the way things we would like them in the future, we can’t change them because our conditioned-self will sense that as the equivalent of suicide. We can try to dominate the conditioned-self with an assertion of will, but all that does is vote for the dominator model and a fear-based reality. You need a passkey to change the code, which is intention plus loving. Having said that, until we can manage grace we have the fall-back of the law. That’s an old practice that works, but in the long run that’s not enough. Somebody always finds a way to control and dominate through the law. It’s easier to identify with the truth of ourselves and use that then as the reference point, the measure is always love. Whether it’s a destructive action or a constructive action, it’s all referenced to loving. When the frequency goes this way and when the frequency goes that way, it’s just a matter of a strategic reversal, but it still comes out of the loving and to that it will ultimately return. The coding makes for the distortion and the remedy.

We have a transformational habit of doing a therapeutic dance with our shadow as if it were the dark side in a polarity. This is not much different than a cosmology of battles between good and evil, wars of conquest in the Bhagavad Gita, monsters surfacing from the deep in Revelations, the clash of civilization. When we have a conflict or issues arise for us we call for the Light. Do we do this to rescue or bridge any disparity? Or to activate the vortex of our consciousness, called synchronous creativity? We have always been a transformer acting through the whole, and reflexively creating wholeness. We just have been totally unconscious of this. Up until now we have needed a filter on our unconscious realm so as not to get inundated with too much content. Transcendent leadership invites a perspective in which we awaken in a realm larger than the unconscious, thus enabling synchronous transformation.

Our transformational habit may well be transformational arrogance, in which we strive to obtain spiritual skill or power. So maybe we get overambitious and say “I just want the Light to bring everything up,” and it does, and your life goes to pot. You wonder what happened. Well, the Light’s helping you according to your request. Fast course. So what do you do then? We can ask for the drama to step back a bit and cool off and just allow what we can handle. There’s a kind of arrogance that gets in there about what it is to be spiritual and how we want to be. We get this idea of something we want to become. Wanting secret knowledge is a kind of a deception, so in our narrative about the Light there are often goals and objectives and ideal states that are really fantasies or outright decoys about what the Light is.

The Light is always quite simple. It’s just where the loving exists in and of itself, where the loving is. That’s the ideal state. How does that look embodied practically in life? It could look like everything—not just a trust (even though it is that) but a knowing that whatever we see going on in the world is some version of love having its way. This is my version of God’s will. Our detective work is discovering how that’s going on.

The fabric of the universe works together. The loving is through everything. We participate in that according to what our perceptive lens is. The Traveler teaches how to wake up on the other side of the mirror and start using that perception to sort things out. The touchstone for that is the loving. The passkey into that realm is love, all of it. From the perspective of synchronous creativity, our transcendent leadership is that we are the one we have been waiting for. We are the blessing. Everything else is recreational.
