Basking in the Light of Spirit on Easter Sunday with John Morton at Santa Monica Beach

It’s 5:55 a.m. as my friend Julie Lurie and I head out to Santa Monica Beach to set up and prepare a place for our spiritual family and for The Traveler to be with us this Easter morning in celebration. This is one of the holy days when we fling open our hearts in loving, and share with our community the Spirit of who we are in the presence of the divine.

We arrive just in time to meet the guys coming with lots of tables and chairs to set the scene. Julie and I call forward the Light in the middle of the designated site and continue to unload the van. One of the team’s volunteers, Ted Drake, joins us and we are grateful for his joy and early arrival. It isn’t long before the remainder of the team shows and we once again call ourselves forward into the Light and get our work assignments.

It’s magical watching the Light and the team at work as our site is transformed into Easter Heaven. The holiday pastel colors of green, yellow, pink, and blue are everywhere. Buckets of sand with colorful pinwheels are at each table, along with dressed baskets with fun gifts, and surprises as well. The welcome mat is being rolled out to the community at large to join us.

Getting close to 9:00 o’clock we all gather near, as many take their places on cozy blankets and beach chairs, or at picnic tables. Our hosts, Mark and Julie Lurie, bring us together and make us feel welcome. Mark calls us all forward into the Light, followed by Julie’s beautiful poetic introduction of John Morton.

John tells us that we will begin the festivities with a baby blessing. As we come into that place of sacred sanctuary in welcoming to Armenie Skates, a beautiful new Soul on the planet, John begins the blessing.

Next we hear some beautiful voices in song. The Bright family sings a powerful harmonious a capella song. We also hear from a couple of our family angels, Ariel Downs and Chace Beech.

John speaks about the Resurrection this morning and the many events that took place around that time, including the crucifixion. He speaks of the different views and versions of how all that was played out; and how we are effected by the historical accounts of the simple and solitary life of one who gave everything so that we can be here today doing what we do, and being grateful for the experiences in our lives and for each other. Loving one another is a key lesson this weekend.

I am definitely experiencing the presence of the Holy Spirit in my heart, and it fills the air around all of us. After John’s talk, we all mingle and bask in the Light of the joy that surrounds us, especially in all the children that are present. There is something for everyone here.

The Easter Bunny is spotted at a distance and the children run to meet him. It is a sight to behold the glee on each child’s face. The Easter Bunny and his Angel Bunny helper guide the kids in a bunny hop done with each child hopping in their own bunny bag. It is the cutest and also the funniest thing to watch. There is also a table where beautiful wildflower crowns are being made. Other tables are lavished with a large assortment of fresh pastries, treats, and baked goods donated from Urth Caff
