Light Column Project — Peace is Present at the World War II Memorial, Washington, DC

Article imageFive MSIA Ministers of Light gathered together on the 60th Anniversary of D-Day (Sunday, June 6, 2004) to plant Light Columns at the newly dedicated World War II Memorial, which is located on the “National Mall” between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument in Washington, DC.

We enjoy coming together regularly here in Washington DC to plant Light columns and then share a lunch or some other fun activity. We call this “Light Columns With a Twist of Fun.” Blessings of Love and Light to you as you see our photos.

Peace is Present. Washington, DC is the capital of the United States and much happens here every day on many levels. Basically it is a city of gathering places for people from all over the world. And that was evident this past Sunday as hundreds of people of all ages, nationalities, shapes and forms came together peacefully to walk in the commemorative sanctuary created by the monument.

Like many monuments in Washington, this one is constructed of granite and bronze, displaying meaningful quotes, and symbols (bas-reliefs, wreaths, stars and eagles). What’s lovely about the World War II Memorial is that it includes elements on many levels including: granite and bronze from the earth, wonderful water in pools, splashing waterfalls and mini geysers. The memorial space is open to the fire of the Sun and the wind of the air; and the etheric is present in the creativity and symbology of the images strategically placed throughout the memorial. Our prayer is that all who visit are lifted now by God’s Love and Light.

The monument is circled by walkways with large trees to provide cool shade. The structures representing the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of the war provided anchoring spots for Light columns. When we looked up through the wreaths supported by eagles in each column there were open portals to the sky above.

Cheers, Love and Light from Jan Rovecamp, Myrtle Sutphin, Sue Dolan, Steve Dobbs (visiting from Kalamazoo), Tim Fiocchi (photographer), and Carrie-Judith Jacoby.

Peace is Present.
