John Morton Q&A on the Internet — March 14th, 2002

Article imageCandy Semigran welcomed everyone to the Q&A evening with John Morton in Santa Monica, at the Brentwood Ballroom, and worldwide on the Internet. Candy gave a short description of MSIA from her own unique perspective, having been an original MSIA staff member years ago, and also having once been John-Roger’s high school English student. With thanks to the many who made the evening possible, Candy called in the Light to begin the evening.

Clea Rose graced us with a song of her own creating called “Such A Game”. As usual, Clea sang beautifully and played her guitar with lots of spirit. She continues to create sweet melodies and heartfelt lyrics such as the many wonderful tracks on her CD.

Then, with gentle and graceful loving, Candy introduced John Morton, mentioning his travels and good works in the name of peace, brotherhood, and the spiritual teachings of MSIA.

John Morton talked a little about his long relationship with Candy, how they had done Insight Trainings and facilitating together some years ago. He mentioned that there is an Insight Super Two scheduled for this summer. He said that many were listening and/or watching on the Internet, and that we are working on better, faster technology, so that the video portion of the broadcast is improved. He requested that listeners contact us, so that we could know who they are and from where they were listening or watching.

John spoke about having been in New York City just a couple of weeks after the September 11th events, and that he and John-Roger had been to Ground Zero, and they recorded a Moment of Peace video. He recalled that in that Moment of Peace, it was said that there would be two columns of Light where the World Trade Center had once stood. And he had seen on TV that this week at Ground Zero there were two huge columns of light put up as a tribute and memorial to what took place. It is rumored that the lights are to come down on April 11th, but John stated that “he doesn’t see it that way.”

Regarding the Israeli/Palestinian situation, John reported that he had been feeling a calling to go to Israel, as a group, and that those who want violence to stop in that area should start talking and meeting in the midst of the situation. John said he noticed today, March 14, that there was a report of 100 Israelis who marched as far as they could toward Ramala, where Yasser Arafat is being confined, carrying a crescent moon, which is a Muslim symbol, and a Star of David, a Jewish symbol. He said that this group basically wanted to stop the fighting, and this small group represented a large number of people who also want it to stop. John asked us to consider that we have the capacity within us to make a difference, to appeal to the God in the hearts of all people. And that we can call forward the presence of Peace and Love, and find a better way, a lasting way to settle differences. Although this long-term fighting [in the middle east] has “always been this way,” he suggested we hold a vision that people in that area come into a resolution of love and harmony.

When asked about the Fatherhood of Abraham over the Jews, Muslims and Christians, John pointed out that this is a family fight. He said it is well known among peace officers that the most dangerous, violent situations are family disturbances and disputes. John said, “Let’s find out how to live amidst our differences . . .”

Throughout the evening, John covered many areas, including how to stay in unconditional loving service, and how to keep the focus of service. He added that service is a calling to a higher order, of being ordinary in the extra-ordinary circumstance.

John also spoke of: overcoming unworthiness; the power of love; calling on Divine power to do what needs to be done; inspiration meaning Divine Breath; choosing to be with someone at their time of need; sharing oneself and being who you are.

When asked how to prepare for a new baby coming, John replied “Get rest!” He also spoke on: parenting and what it teaches us; the nurturing and support that children need; the responsibility to turn around and share the abundance and good that has been given to us; and on being a source of loving for our children.

He spoke about: anxiety and obsession; things we do from a reactive or autonomic or unconscious state, which are not in balance with who we are; choosing how to respond; that we are loved the way we are; being child-like, and the consciousness of innocence and purity. He said that once you know who you are, you no longer have to believe because then you “know.”

He talked on: how to be more patient; how to let go and let God; learning to trust our own individual truth; how to learn and grow by doing the experiences that come to you.

He shared about: how to expand inward and outward loving; how to accept the dark side; shadows and Light; seeking the Light; loving, caring and peace and things of a positive uplifting nature. He recommended that we get with the Light as soon and as directly as we can.

He touched on: creating more opportunities to be lined up with one’s purpose in life; having joy and having it more abundantly; doing something to give more than we take; seeding, tithing, and offering; sharing in the goodness and abundance that have been given to us; cooperation. He urged us to come present and be accounted for and he talked about the game in this world, which is to be at attention, attentiveness and consciousness.

John covered: how to take mental dominion; survival and the body as a vehicle to deliver experiences; growing, learning, and exploring; exploration as risk taking. He was eloquent on the many ways God speaks to us and on the limitations of our capacity and our perceptions. He spoke of how in Silence we hear God, and God’s voice has always been a consciousness of adoration.

Regarding how to be more in harmony with the body, John quoted that “A life not explored is not worth living,” and in order to learn we need to go into something that is unknown.

John commented on the recent television show about September 11th, and how the survivors of that tragedy made choices — acts of grace that spared them.

There was a request on the Internet from France that John place a blessing for International Forgiveness Day, Friday, March 15th. John noted that it was already 6:30 a.m. on March 15th in France, and John placed a beautiful blessing of forgiveness, involving seeing the Earth as a heart, in radiant colors, balanced and perfect.

Candy Semigran closed the evening with a couple of announcements, and we were delighted to hear Elizabeth Loggins singing “True Reflection”, accompanied by Paul Davidson. There were refreshments provided, and people hung about, chatting with old friends and new.

eNDH photographer and reporter, Peter Leighton, adds these comments about the evening:

Everyone, at one time or another has felt feelings of unworthiness. John discussed this in relation to our ministries. He basically said, “Surprise! You don’t have to be perfect to do it.” It is OK that we are playing over our heads, past limitations & worthiness/unworthiness. For me this meant just getting out of the way of the Spirit that might be using us and just express a willingness to allow it to flow through us as unimpeded as possible.

John answered a question concerning parenting. He appeared to suggest some form of requisite education for parenting. John has often said that parenting is one of the most important jobs on the planet, a job that requires a parent’s unconditional loving. To me this also means parenting ourselves. We need to be open to let God parent us. John said the way to do this is by letting go & letting God.

John also reminded us that laughter is God talking to us.

Here’s some feedback from the Seattle MSIA community about the monthly Internet Events with John Morton

“A big thank you to John Morton, J-R, and the Internet Broadcast Team for assisting us to participate in the monthly live seminars. Each month folks from our community gather to revel in the virtual connection. We applaud, laugh, chant, ask questions and even sleep as though we were right there. And yes, the “spiritual fog” is pervading out in Internet land, or at least we felt it here in Seattle. Thanks again, these seminars are the next best thing to being there and a huge support to our community.”
– Kelly Sheehan-Funk

“When I am listening to the live Internet seminar I feel like I am sitting in LA in the front row. The energy is the same.”

– Faith Murphy

“Imagine how it must have felt to listen to the 1st ever radio broadcast or watch the first ever TV show. That’s the level of excitement I feel in experiencing these first ever live Internet seminars. The immediacy of having the travelers live in our Seattle living room, plus the ability to ask a question virtually, and possibly get them answered — this is the best, the most amazing experience. Get your community to do these now. Assemble the technology; you’ll be glad you did.”

– Miriam Reiss

“I was overjoyed by the email I received asking us to Beta test in November. As the guy who gets to hook it up [at home], I am enthusiastic about video seminars. I love it as a way to feel connected. I also get a kick out of watching the audience to see whose in the house.”

– David Funk

“Awesome.”

– Colt de Wolf
