A Precious Seminar with John Morton in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Article imageDozens of New Mexicans — some who remember the earliest MSIA staff visits to the state, others learning about MSIA for the first time — file in to the Beth Shalom Temple in Santa Fe on June 4 for an open seminar with John Morton. The newcomers pick up “Soul Transcendence” brochures, ask questions, and peruse the product offerings in the lobby. Old timers exchange stories and hugs. Outside, the desert gratefully soaks up the first drops of an evening rain.

At seven thirty, MSIA Representative Win Hampton takes up a microphone, explains about calling in the Light and then and calls in the Light. We watch promotional videos about new products and MSIA events, hear updates about the improvements to MSIA’s headquarters in Los Angeles, and get an enticing preview of the upcoming Japan trip from John Morton.

Then a local MSIAer, BJ Heffner, sings a prayer she said angels encouraged her to sing tonight — her voice itself angelic. Her words of devotion and autoharp accompaniment set the tone for John to take the stage.

John stands through the entire seminar, relating openly and enthusiastically the essential teachings of MSIA. With a delightful, disarming charm and whimsy he brings up aspects of MSIA that he says some people could take issue with — everything from the form of the church to the openness required to relate more directly to God. He then explains how we seem to be a group of non-joiners, individuals working with Spirit in our own unique and perfect way. He explains how God loves all of its creation and respects us in our choices. He explains many, many other fundamental teachings of MSIA with a fresh and entertaining candor. And he demonstrates the most fundamental teaching by sharing his loving openly and unconditionally with everyone present.

John ends the evening by explaining his process of bringing forward a blessing from his inner consciousness. Then he brings in the beautiful words of the blessing. When finished, he stands before the group a little while longer, transmitting the sweet, wordless essence of what he had been explaining and demonstrating during the previous hour.

Win returns to the stage and makes a variety of announcements — drawing on PTS representatives, facilitators, burgeoning Heartfelt representatives and others to get the word out to the community about everything from home seminars to the upcoming Year 3 PTS Master’s class. Many stay behind to chat, break down the NOW Productions equipment, and put away chairs. Eventually we all make our way out into good-smelling air, full with our own experience of the Traveler.
