MSIA Kids H.U.G.S.

Article imageMSIA has always had a “Kids Room” during the Los Angeles Ministers Meetings, but in the past year or so, it has blossomed into something else. We used to just hang around and do crafts sometimes, or maybe go to the park, but now we’re using it to bring us closer to Spirit.

It’s been really fun and interesting being a part of this process in making the MSIA Kids Room an organization in itself. Now, we are doing tons of spiritual activities.

On Sunday, July 25, our MSIA kids group gathered in the Kids Room for another exciting day. We got to say “Hi” to some friends we hadn’t seen in awhile, and then we got in a circle to call in the Light with John Morton. After that, we went around the circle and put people and things in the Light.

On that particular day, we went to the park to play Kick the Can and paint blessing boxes. Our games of Kick the Can were a lot of fun, and some of us even played football, too. Then we went over to the tarp and painted these little wooden boxes to keep our blessings in. We also had some bagels and cream cheese, juice, fruit, and cheese sticks for snacks. We got to talk with old friends and meet some new ones.

We had a discussion about some quotes from J-R’s book “Loving Each Day.” We talked about how the quotes affected and applied to us in day-to-day life and we shared some experiences that we had. And finally, we picked a name. Our kids organization is now called MSIA Kids H.U.G.S., or Helping Us Grow in Spirit. All in all, it was a day filled with loving and Light, and a day where each of us got a chance to move closer to Spirit.

Stay tuned for more HUGS articles and photos. If you are interested in particpating in the HUGS room, please contact Karen Powell at Writermoma@aol.com or Julie Marvis at Julie@pts.org for more information.
