Sacred Silence — A Spiritual Spa Day with Paul Kaye at Peace Labyrinth & Gardens

It’s been said that pictures speak a thousand words. Well it goes that silence witnesses the sacred images. Saturday, July 16, Paul Kaye, President of the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness (MSIA), led a beautiful silent Spa Day at Peace Labyrinth and Gardens, an oasis in the heart of Los Angeles. His style was relaxed and casual, but to-the-point. Eric Lumiere sang two original songs about his love of Spirit. And Paul focused on listening to the Hu Meditation and chanting the Hu and Ani-Hu. Hu is an ancient Sanskrit name for God. Ani-Hu brings in empathy and oneness in a group.

The morning was filled with inner chanting, inner watching, and listening. Brunch was excellent and plentiful and silent! 110 people spread out in the dining room, on the terrace and in the courtyard savoring their food and silently discovering their own very personal inner worlds.

After brunch Paul invited participants to choose whether they wanted to listen to the Labyrinth Meditation or walk the labyrinth or visit the gardens. It was a smooth and lyrical flow. After the labyrinth walk, Paul took sharing. New people told how much they appreciated the silence, the beauty of the gardens and their awakenings on the labyrinth.

And Paul played one of my favorite Moments of Peace on DVD: The Silence Within — after listening to the shakuhachi (Japanese flute) during this moment, it was such a heart-opening scene of John Morton, MSIA’s Spiritual Director, watching over John-Roger, MSIA’s Founder.

Also included is one of my favorite quotes from the book Tao of Spirit, by John-Roger:

“If we, indeed, pay attention, even for one day out of our lifetime, and we are, indeed, thoughtful and intuitive, and we are watching very carefully where we’re putting our mind and our emotions and our body, we might not get much done that day in the physical, emotional, mental world, but we would deliver ourselves from eons of karma.”
– John-Roger

It is my pleasure and dream come true to have a part in presenting these beautiful Spa Days as a way for the teachings of MSIA to be experienced by people who are looking for them in our Los Angeles community. Our next Spa Day is August 20, Listening to the Inner Music , facilitated by composer and MSIA Minister, Steve Chopyak.
