Exploring the Three Selves — A Webcast Class with John Morton

On Sunday July 30th, quite a crowd gathered in the Brentwood Ballroom at 2101 Wilshire in Santa Monica for the “Exploring the Three Selves” webcast class with John Morton. In fact, the room was packed. Although the weather in Los Angeles had been “outside the boundaries” for almost two weeks, the cloud cover off of the Pacific Ocean at last reappeared. This brought lower temperatures, as well as more moisture in the air (and for this New Day Herald Reporter, a greater sense of calm and comfort).

Celia Allen-Graham was our Mistress of Ceremonies, and she began the afternoon with an invocation, moving us all toward that Inner Light, attuning to God together. She said that the two-hour class was sponsored by the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness (MSIA) and by Peace Theological Seminary (PTS); she also explained three of the main teachings of MSIA: Out of God come all things, God loves all of Its creation, and not one Soul will be lost.

Next, Celia introduced Eric Lumiére, who played and sang an original song, ‘Peace, Be Still.’ His music was clear, authentic, and sincere, beautiful in its simplicity and well received.

And speaking of peace, we watched three “Moments of Peace”, short video clips of John-Roger, founder of MSIA and PTS, in various seminar and retreat settings. Then Celia introduced John Morton, our speaker for the afternoon.

John announced that, in addition to Internet participants from all over the U.S., Australia, and Europe, we had people listening in and watching for the first time from Algeria and from Bouvet Island, one of the most inaccessible places on earth.

To begin the class, John incorporated information from a large graphic chart, which depicted drawings of the three selves — High Self, Conscious Self and Basic Self. He described each of these levels of consciousness, and added that, while the clearest form of communication is in Spirit, “Energy follows thought.” Because holding a vision of something we want will often bring about an alignment of the levels of consciousness to produce that vision, he reminded us to be careful what we ask for, because we might just get it! He also pointed out that we might want to be careful with what we say, and listen to what we say, to be certain it represents what we want in our lives.

In talking about the various levels of consciousness, John was simple and clear in his words and his gestures. He led us through a reflective process, much like a meditation, in which we remained with our eyes closed, but active and alert, just observing what came up. Then we were invited to participate in a Partner Exercise (one-on-one), making simple statements about our various levels of consciousness. This was one of those easy-but-profound moments that reveals one’s Self to oneself, which was followed by audio excerpts from John-Roger.

And the two hours had flown by so quickly, there was time for only one question from an Internet participant. And with a Baruch Bashan, John gave us his peace and left the building. Celia Allen-Graham came back to the stage with a few last announcements, including the date of the next Internet Webcast Class, which will be “Letting Go, Letting God” on Saturday, August 19 at 1:00 PM.
