DAY 6 — BOSTON TO NORWALK

It’s a perfect day for driving today. As Cleora and I drive south, we see the trees gradually showing more delicate green. Spring is emerging more and more in its glory. We arrive in the late afternoon at the Dolce Norwalk Hotel and Conference Center. On this site used to be a monastery we find out as we check in. The grounds are beautiful with a red barn greeting us on one side of the road and a pond with geese, ducks, turtles, fish and a fountain on the other side. Once settled into our rooms we take off exploring the grounds and then relax with dinner. Nice to have a rest-full evening. Meanwhile Vincent and Lesley are in the friendly skies winging their way towards New York. As we climb into bed I hear that they’ve arrived at the airport and will be driving in after midnight. Light to them and their safe arrival! John, Leigh and Roger will join us here tomorrow.

DAY 7 — NORWALK

Cleora and I have a luxuriously free morning as there are only a few Services to do this afternoon. Along with friends we get in some much needed exercise. Leigh Hamel, Lisa Boone and some of the assistants check in with us. So good to see them. Leigh is one of the coordinators for this Spiritual Exercises retreat as well as being the home court (Connecticut) MSIA Rep. She’s doing double duty! Lisa is managing the products room and is happy to get the lay of the land before set up begins tomorrow. After Services, Roger arrives and all of us do dinner on our own. As our little troop is settling in for sleep, John and Leigh arrive. There are a few bumps in the road before they finally get into their room, but they do, and we all are together, resting for our full day tomorrow.

DAY 8 — NORWALK

Up and at ’em, Cleora, Lesley and I go full speed into Services. Bruce and Elizabeth are on hand to continue their balancer-in-training work. We break for a quick lunch then do an afternoon of Services. We can feel the excitement building as participants check-in all around us. We get a break for dinner checking in on Roger and Vincent who have been setting up all day. Ezra Mack has been on hand to help out too. Leigh has her assistants crew working like a fine machine. All is ready for the retreat to begin. Leigh Hamel, also our MC/TC, welcomes the group and quickly bows to Leigh Taylor-Young who takes the stage most beauteously and graciously as co-facilitator with John Morton. She then welcomes John and we are fully underway, listening to J-R and doing our spiritual exercises. As the evening ends, we float from the training room to the snack table and then happily to bed to continue our out-of-body travels…hopefully in the Soul realms…with the Travelers.

DAY 9 — NORWALK

Another beautiful day in heaven…here on earth at the Dolce center. Breakfast is yummy and then into the training room for more yumminess of a higher level. SE’s, J-R excerpts, meditations, more SE’s, more excerpts, then lunch. Whoa! I could get used to this! Our lunch break gives us ample time to be in nature where the sun is warm and the air is cool. You can play basketball, swim, do ping pong, walk, ride a bike, play pool, go back to your room for rest….now this is my kind of retreat and retreat center. The training resumes after lunch and guess what? More Traveler sharing, SE’s, and excerpts…yes, it’s a wonderful life, and a wonderful night. Bed looks extra good, after a shower too!

DAY 10 — NORWALK

Well, the rain devas prevailed and after our early morning session the sprinkles begin turning into a soft wet rain by lunch. Our morning has been filled with more SE’s, excerpts, Traveler sharing and a meditation. We are full to overflowing and yes, could always take more. But…now it’s time to take our loving selves back out into the world and practice, practice, practice re-sourcing ourselves into our Souls while we commune with all the Souls we meet outside of our retreat center. Before we go many, many thanks to Leigh Hamel and Monica Simpson for creating this beautiful retreat, to all the assistants who came, in some cases, from afar. We are so very grateful to your generous giving of yourselves throughout this weekend. And of course, Lisa, who manned and womanned the products room with grace and elegance and fun. We’re going to try to have another retreat at this center next year, so if you’re interested, get your deposits to Leigh Hamel soon. Many hands make for a quick pack-up and soon we’re all on our way to New York. John and Leigh go by train and we go by car via a super yummy stop at Meli-Milo in Greenwich for French crepes. We arrive in the early evening at our New York hotel and as I write this, all of us are settling in to do some emails, catch some TV or some rest and hopefully all get some sleep for our commando next two days. Keep the Light coming and thanks for all the Light you’ve sent our way so far!

DAY 11 – NEW YORK

We’re in Times Square and it’s New York! Wow! Billboards flashing everywhere…I feel like I’m in a High-Def television with colors flashing. I just love this theatre district. Today we do Services all day and Roger starts a set up at La Ripaille restaurant, the location for our fundraiser dinner and Q&A tonight. The menu for tonight’s dinner sounds mouthwatering, but I do my best to stay focused and present with many friends that come in for their yearly balances. Not too hard ‘cuz it’s so much fun to play catch up. Before we know it time to change into “nice” outfits and taxi down to Hudson and 12th for our event.

Caryn Kanzer, Joan Witkowski and Wade Binder — a mighty threesome — have held the Light and done the coordinating for this event. The owner of La Ripaille is adorable as well as an excellent host qui parle le Francais. You should hear Vincent go to town in French here! We staff sit at the “kiddies” table or as Alain calls it “pour les enfants”. John Morton and Leigh Taylor-Young are at the main table visiting with the participants. The decor is beautiful and cozy, the food is magnifique! The service even better!!

Then to the heart of the evening as John caringly and thoroughly takes time with each participant. By midnight we are cooked in the best of ways and ready to pack up the equipment. All of us are so grateful to Caryn, Joan and Wade for holding for this lovely event to take place. We girls get a special dispensation to leave before pack up is complete. This cookie is happy to shower and get into bed, after a few more emails — of course — for tomorrow is yet another even fuller day for us. God bless New York and all at La Ripaille!
