Days 15 through 18 of MSIA Staff Travel in the Northeast — Maryland & Washington, D.C.

Article imageDay 15

Today Cleora and I drive from Philadelphia to Bethesda, Maryland – a lovely suburb of Washington, DC. Having said goodbye to all the “guys” yesterday, we are feeling freer on the one hand and on the other hand we were missing their fun company. But there’s not much time to indulge in the past because we need to be on our way. It’s a beautiful day for driving south. We go through Delaware and soon we’re into Maryland. It’s neat to send Light to the towns and the highways as we drive along. The foliage is even more green and verdant, if that’s possible, and azaleas, dogwood and forsythia provide bursts of soft and jewel-brilliant-colors amidst the greens. We arrive at our hotel and take time out to settle in, catch up on some email and have a quiet evening.

Day 16

Services are at the home of Bea Young. Her apartment is up on the third floor with a wonderful balcony that looks out onto trees – it’s just like being in a tree house. We are lovingly greeted by Margrett Gary who has just a hint of a southern accent and more than a hint of warmth. She clucks over us like a busy mother hen, seeing to our every little whim. It’s fun to catch up with old friends as we do MSIA Services and lunch hits the spot. Richard Dotson comes in with a huge fruit tart to tempt us – we just love those kind of temptations. Before we know it the day has gone by and we each go our own way for the evening.

Day 17

More Services today. On the way we take the scenic route through old Silver Spring, crossing the railroad tracks and seeing vintage homes from the turn of the century. Though we’re just north of the Mason-Dickson line there is a feel of “the South” here. It’s humid and the sky has thick grayish clouds and the air is heavy and smells wet – looks like we could get a thunderstorm this afternoon. We meet some new people today who are in their first year of Soul Awareness Discourses. We are renewed in their enthusiasm as they share how they are discovering and working with the Traveler’s teachings. Makes us think “Who’s really the new person here?” Margrett is here again to watch over us and Deborah Walton makes a wonderful lunch. Yum!

We have a little break after Services before we gather with the MSIA community. We did have a little storm early in the day and now it’s sunny, breezy and comfortably warm. A walk and an espresso is just what the doctor ordered – nice doctor!! Then we come to the recreation room in the Americana condominium complex. How great to see our friends again that have come in for Services over the last few days. Chip Conley and Jan Rovecamp are here; so are Toni, Alex, Shar, Tim and Nonette and Patricia. Even Alice with her son, Sammy, from Ohio has driven all the way here for her Services and for this evening’s get-together. Their agenda is to touch into the Traveler energy, the energy of “where two or more are gathered in my (the Christ’s) name…” We call ourselves into the Light, share, do a breathing meditation and sending Light meditation together. For fun Myrtle Sutphin has organized a drawing – everyone gets a ticket and everyone wins something. The prizes are signed copies of J-R and John Morton books, and J-R tapes. We just love getting a surprise gift! Then we adjourn for snacks and schmooze time. Nothin’ quite like Spirit, gifts and food for a good all-round satisfying evening.

Day 18

Our last day of Services for this trip! The day seems to sail by. We hug and hug again Margrett, Toni, Myrtle and Tim and say our good-byes. Now it’s time to pack and catch a quick movie as our celebration of this most wonderful trip. Thanks for your loving and Light throughout our journey. We’ll be in Los Angeles for a few weeks and then on May 31st we head to the southwest! Baruch Bashan!
