Last Day of the Journey — A Visit to Tintagel

The last day of our journey is a bus ride from southwest England back to London, where we’ll catch our flights home the next day. On the way to London we stop at Tintagel, where King Arthur had his summer home on the west coast of England. An area of ruins faces a majestic view of hills, moors, and ocean. We stop for high tea–scones, clotted cream, sandwiches–at a hotel called Camelot, overlooking the ocean, where the artist Ted Stourton has his studio and displays his paintings. As he introduces himself to the group, he asks rhetorically, “Who brought the great weather?” (For several days we’ve had some of the balmiest October weather that southern England has seen.) Like children who take things too literally get the joke, we all point to J-R. As we approach London Michael Hayes gets on the bus microphone and explains some of the metaphysical reasons for our visits of the last month, detailing the karma released and light anchored in the different regions. It’s a nice completion to hear the end of the story, tying together all the different things we’ve been experiencing on the trip. By evening we’re back at our London hotel, where a taxi painted with the words “Be a traveler, not a tourist,” greets us as we return and provides the final shot of the journey. The next morning we’re on the bus to the airport.
