Susan Valaskovic (at center) in the Dining Room at Prana with staff and friends

Retired or Not, Vacay at Prana

I come to Prana at least twice a year for a month or so.  Why? I’ve thought about it. The rooms aren’t fancy. It’s the energy field.  I worked and lived at Prana for 5 years and I had my share of difficulties.  But, as J-R said, the purpose of MSIA is Soul Transcendence. The amazing energy field that he laid down at Prana, John Morton maintains, and the staff and residents nurture. This makes it so much easier to turn inward.

I begin to feel the Light as soon as I walk in.  I breathe a little deeper, relax a little more. The stress of the world disappears and I am at one with the energy of the Travelers.  If you have re-read your Discourses lately the theme throughout is turn inward and do Spiritual Exercises (SEs) and be of service.  Prana is the place for that!

Besides SEs, I walk the labyrinth, read J-R books and Discourses, listen to That Which Is, do yoga, stroll through the gardens and smile a bit more.

J-R and John have done so much for me. I like to give back through service. Lots of service opportunities are available at Prana: from sweeping the labyrinth, to helping the min board, assisting at events or even docenting — there is some service you might like to do to enrich your stay.

And if you choose to go off property, there is a great new coffee place on Adams, LA Prime Caffe 2 across from Los Anaya (my fav Mexican place) and I love the matzo ball soup at Johnny’s Pastrami.  Want something trendy?  Ask Mark Lurie, the official Prana foodie.  I also love the local dollar store (guilty pleasure) or I walk to the cinema on Crenshaw (great popcorn and inexpensive movies).

But mainly I return to MSIA’s home to breathe in and out and bask in gratitude.

P.S. If you are planning a stay for Conference, book early and stay longer to really maximize the benefit of the Light available. Stella Estevez – StellaEstevez@msia.org – will assist you if you decide you’d to stay.
