MSIA Presidency Update – February 2024

2024 has begun with an invigorating hive of activity.  PTS courses are in demand and being very well received, with lots of folks participating with the many MSIA online offerings.  The feedback we continually get from out-of-town visitors to Prana is heartfelt gratitude for being able to stay in touch with the MSIA community and the Travelers’ energy and teachings through our online offerings.

Plans for Easter in March and the Conference of Celebration in June are already underway.  John Morton and staff visits to Miami and Colombia have just completed. And soon, John and Leigh, and the crew, will be back on the road visiting Australia at the end of February and early March.  If you happen to be in San Diego or want a fun break in a beautiful part of California, John Morton is doing two events on February 9 and 10 — Practical Spirituality in Today’s World and a one day Spiritual Exercises Workshop.  Both are also online, natch.

Activity has also ramped up at Prana these days.  Our in-person offerings have grown exponentially. And on the construction front, a project to add an ADA lift for the disabled, at the labyrinth terrace level, is in the final stages of completion.  The lift will allow visitors in wheelchairs to access the labyrinth, as well as access the Carriage House for guest stays.   The Carriage House now has more space for visitors because of the dismantling of the temporary audiovisual studio built there after we sold 2101 Wilshire property in Santa Monica.

Long-time MSIA staff member, Greg Fritz, did a yeoman’s job to move the equipment to Prana and set up the studio in 2020 to complete the archiving work that has been underway for several years.  Greg had a state-of-the-art studio at 2101 and was able to create a workable version for the work at Prana which is now finished.  He has been a huge part in preserving the teachings over the past few decades, it’s through him applying his expertise with sound engineering and his sensitive ear and attunement that we have been able to maintain the quality of J-R’s recorded materials. We are very happy to say that we begin 2024 with all John-Roger’s media digitized, and the original masters stored in a salt mine in Kansas.

This will be a big year for Villa de la Paz Apartments, the 86-unit apartment complex next door to Prana that is owned by MSIA.   After years of improvements all over the property, we are finally going to redo the entire frontage on West Adams Boulevard, with new entry gates, driveway, and beautiful landscaping.  At long last, the outside will be an accurate reflection of the beauty and transformation that has occurred inside. Last year, we added a small gym and four EV charging stations, as well as patios for some of the ground floor units.  About 10 percent of the apartments at Villa de la Paz are occupied by MSIA folks, including Vincent Dupont and Roger Wakefield, who enjoy being adjacent to Prana to work, walk the labyrinth, volunteer, and attend events.

God Bless you and thank you for participating in MSIA, and for all that you give in so many ways. As J-R would constantly remind us, “It is the loving that makes all this work.” We love and appreciate you!
