I love when I get to not only provide the backbone support for Spiritual Spa Days at Peace Awareness Labyrinth & Gardens, but I can also be there to welcome new people and welcome facilitators who are excited and passionate about what they are there to present. Such was the case last Saturday, January 27, when MSIA ministers, Jan Shepherd and Karen Powell arrived to facilitate the “Loving Yourself Where You Are–Keys to Transformation” Spa Day.

Our purpose at the Gardens is to share the teachings of the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness (MSIA) as given to us through the works of John-Roger, Founder and Spiritual Advisor, and John Morton, Spiritual Director. So even though transformation was Jan’s and Karen’s passion, the methods and techniques they used all came through the teachings of MSIA, an ecumenical church that makes the universal teachings of the Spiritual Heart readily usable on a daily basis..

For example, they emphasized intention as an important key to transforming ourselves, as well as willingness to support ourselves, observation and acceptance of whatever we discover, unconditional loving of self, again no matter what we discover, forgiveness of judgments that we hold against ourselves, and gratitude–often called the parent attitude because it can bring us out of the darkness into the Light of our spiritual hearts. Just now, think of a few things you are grateful for–ah, isn’t that nice? For instance, when I think of how grateful I am for the best health I’ve ever experienced (at the tender age of 63) it brings tears to my eyes, a deep sigh to my breath, and a feeling of peace and love for myself and my path.

Anyway, the day progressed with Jan and Karen sharing their stories of personal triumph over serious health issues. Their heartfelt and genuine revelations touched us all and provided us with the space to explore deep places within ourselves. We heard poignant excerpts from John-Roger on each key and then went on to enjoy a scrumptious gourmet buffet brunch.

Elaine Kitchell, guest chef for the day, flew in from North Carolina especially to lead the team in an amazing menu of Italian Bread Salad, Pecan and Grape Salad, Berry Cobbler, Goat Cheese Souffl
