It’s God’s gig. Who knew??

Actually, it makes good sense, doesn’t it? God is everything. There is nothing that is outside of God. So every gig is going to be God’s Gig. That’s the spirit of a really fun and inspiring Spa Day presentation given by Justin & Rachael Jayne.

There’s really no pressure. Just remember even when you are at your most creative, God thought of it first. However, that doesn’t mean you should assume it’s all completed & you don’t have to do anything. We are God’s hands and feet on this level. We are the ones that do things in the physical. However, we need to be open and aware of what God wants us to do. Spiritual Exercises, or S.E.’s is a great way of developing that awareness. In fact, it was an S.E.’s experience that inspired the topic for today’s Spa Day.

There’s no urgency in Spirit, so we got started 15 minutes (fashionably) late. Kevin McMillan introduced the Spa Day, enlightening us with the wisdom that “gig” is the same spelled forwards and backwards.”

Justin & Rachael are both long-time volunteers for Peace Theological Seminary (PTS) and Peace Awareness Labyrinth and Gardens. Rachael has served as a facilitator of the Doctor of Spiritual Science (DSS) program, and Justin has recently become a DSS Reader. Both have facilitated other Spa Days. Justin & Rachael have a great sense of humor that you must experience.

Rachael started off with a story of her experience. She talked about “worrying,” and that she heard the phrase “It’s God’s Gig” in S.E.’s. She realized all she had to do is show up and then relax. She said that now she doesn’t know how something’s going to come forward, but in God’s time, it will succeed.

In the book, Spiritual Warrior, John-Roger (the founder of MSIA and PTS) wrote of control as the master addiction: “The fear of losing control is the strongest human motivator. Control is the master addiction. It is not lack of courage that keeps us from moving forward, as most people think; it is the fear of losing control. We want to control, and when we feel we can’t, we freeze; we stop. The person who fears loss of control is like a deer caught in the headlights: Instead of running off the highway to safety, it stops in its tracks. To some extent we are all control freaks. We want to control events, so that we can always be certain of the outcome. We put pressure on ourselves to master the events of our lives. But this does not give us control, it just gives us pressure.” — John-Roger

Rachael said, “Trying to control only makes us stressed. We need to move forward with God’s direction. It takes away the need to worry. This is the highest form of cooperation in our lives. It’s an active process which can be a whole lot more fun than the process of worrying and trying to control.”

Justin noted, “You don’t have to be in control. In fact, things probably work better when you are not trying to be in control.” He said that letting go is the important essence of the day; that God’s plan for us might actually be even better than what we had in mind.

John-Roger explains: “What you are really saying in this struggle for control is,
