Turning Into Yourself

“You keep going back in until you just turn into yourself. At that moment, you will become anointed by the Holy Spirit, and, believe it or not, whatever you do at that point is going to be a blessing.”Ā – John-Roger

This article by John-Roger was first published as a Letter from the Editor in the New Day Herald, July 1990

Jesus Christ said, ā€The kingdom of heaven is at hand.ā€ He also said that the kingdom of heaven is within. And what did it mean when he said, ā€œSuffer little children to come unto me, for of such is the kingdom of heavenā€? What are little children? Innocent. Pure. If you turn and go back in to the divine nature, with that innocence, you may realize, ā€œYes, I’ve done all sorts of things in this world that have been dirty, evil, sinful, terrible, rotten and, God, I want to come back in.ā€ In that innocence and purity, God takes you back in. The Divinity takes you just as you are.

We say, ā€œDo spiritual exercises, go back in, and find the Divinity. Check for yourself.ā€Ā  We chant the names of God that are charged with energy from the Divine out to us here, and we start to head back in to the source.

Do I do it for you? No. You do it for yourself. I’m just showing you how this works, and then you work it. When I go down to the gym to show you how to work out, I get on an exercise bike, I pump twice, and then I get off and say, ā€œYou get on. I’ll see you in an hour.ā€ You ask, ā€œWell, how come you’re not going to ride it for an hour for me?ā€ My answer is, ā€œBecause it’s your fat you’re dealing with, not mine.ā€ So, it’s your stuff you’re dealing with, not mine. You deal with yours, and I’ll deal with mine. Mine is no better or worse than yours; yours is no better or worse than mine.

And we keep our eyes on the Lord. How do we do that? The Lord is showing his face to me through every one of you. Right out through the eyes, the Christ is showing itself. My Christ looks back, and says, ā€œHi. You’re welcome. Hi. Wake up. It’s raining. It’s snowing. It’s whatever you want.ā€ The kingdom of heaven is like that. It’s beautiful. It’s this valuable thing that we’re praying and looking for out there in everybody else, while all the time, it is inside of us, as us, waiting.

You keep going back in until you just turn into yourself. At that moment, you will become anointed by the Holy Spirit, and, believe it or not, whatever you do at that point is going to be a blessing to whoever you do it to because it’s the Divine nature expressing. Even when the disciple Peter walked by and his shadow fell on a sick person, the shadow got the person well.

This information is for this time, for this people, but it is not new. It’s a new look at the old stuff to bring it up to the new ways of behaving and dealing with it. You’re here today; update everything. Whatever you heard last year in the teachings, update it to today. Make it applicable right now because that’s what this is about. This is not about what I said twenty years ago, what I did ten years ago, or how I came into the work I’m doing. It’s not about that. It’s about you doing yours, and it’s about how the Spirit is pulling you forward into yourself, into the beingness that you are. The future is here and the past is here. You’re present in between, and you can have all of it at one time. It’s here because that’s who you are.

The ā€œsecond comingā€ is already present. Some people have said to me, ā€œDo you think Jesus is going to return?ā€ Folks, Jesus said, ā€œI’m with you to the end.ā€ That means he never left. He’s just inside. Do you want to visit? Go inside. Go inside and do your s.e.’s. And when that divine presence comes forward, life comes toward you in the most wonderful way. Your daughters are sweet, your sons are sweet, your husband’s neat, and they lower the rent. (Now, we know that part about the rent is a fairy tale, but the other things are possible.)

Keep looking for it and focusing on it and thinking about it. There’s a saying in the Bible: ā€œAs a man thinketh in his heart, he becomes.ā€ But you don’t think in your heart, so it should have been written, ā€œAs a man thinketh, in his heart he becomes.ā€ Watch what you think because it’s going into your heart and you’re going to become that. So think joy, health, wealth, happiness. It goes into the heart, starts to create, and comes out, and then people participate with you. It’s joyful to behold. It’s even more wondrous to participate in. Love yourself enough to do that.
