The Peace Hunter and Friends Take a Horse Ride at Windermere

Article imageG’day beautiful people, it’s the Peace Hunter from Australia. I have found peace once again at Windermere. The Peace Hunter and friends — Nat, Erik, Lynn, Neil and George — had a glorious day horse riding in the Santa Barbara Mountains.

Lynn, Windermere’s resident horse hero, showed the Peace Hunter, a first time rider, how to ride Prince “his little beauty.” First we walked, then a trot…I gained confidence. Then I gave Prince a kick and bloody Prince took off at a canter. I nearly “had a good time.” I love Prince, what a beautiful horse. He’s a fine companion. Then I stopped and peace was present yet again.

I learned quick that the horse knew my level of riding ability and treated me accordingly. What a great fella. I was learning posture. I guess I learned the hard way because I left Prince a souvenir — a piece of skin off my bottom.

Nat, a more experienced rider than I, took off “like a frog in a sock.” I thought he was in a horse race. Peace was with him — that peace made my heart pound. Nat loved the experience of being on the property. You can tell by how he looks in his picture — half cowboy half safari man. It was great to be with him on the ride, as we hardly saw him.

Erik, like me a relatively new rider, took things in stride, riding like he was ready for more.

Many thanks to Lynn Cox, Neil Hightower and George Pace for riding with the Light staff, and to all of the IIWP staff for their loving commitment. The Horses are such a fine species. I can’t wait for more.

The Peace Hunter would like to tell you this — I’m not a writer, as you can tell from the above. However, this is my heartfelt way of inviting you up to Windermere and inviting you to get involved with IIWP. IIWP has a great vision of implementing peace for you, your family, loved ones, kids, schools and the Globe. You can see how it does that by going to www.IIWP.org. Windermere ranch is open to you and your friends to participate in horseback riding, hiking, service work, picnics — as much as your creativity will allow, always directed towards peace. All you have to do is call in advance, (805) 692-1806, and let the staff know that you’re coming.

What a great gift John-Roger and the staff have created for us — a property to enjoy ourselves and take away all distractions from the world and give us what is left, which is Peace. If you do get to the ranch, I would love to hear how that time was for you. Or, if you would simply like to share about IIWP and your experience, please contact me at MAH@MSIA.org. Thanks and God bless us all in our endeavors towards peace. I encourage you to participate. “Good On ya Mate.”
